Collection System Maintenance Technician

The Collection System Maintenance Technician performs maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and minor repair of the City's wastewater collection system. This position supports the operation of vacuum and jetting equipment, responds to sewer line issues, and assists with maintaining sewer mains, laterals, and manholes. Work is performed under the supervision of the Wastewater Collections Foreman to ensure reliable service and regulatory compliance.

Assists with cleaning and jetting sewer mains; inspects and maintains manholes and service lines; responds to sewer backups and sanitary sewer overflows; performs minor repairs; sets up traffic control and safe work zones; completes daily work logs and reports; participates in on-call rotation; and supports emergency response operations during severe weather or disaster events.

High school diploma or GED required. One (1) year of experience in wastewater collections, utility maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License required. Ability to obtain a Class D Wastewater Collection License within twelve (12) months preferred. Must be able to perform physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

This position is designated as Tier 1 Essential Personnel and requires reporting to work during emergency events, including hurricanes and flooding. Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to wastewater, confined spaces, and traffic hazards. The City of La Marque is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
