The Pediatrician is responsible for providing comprehensive, high-quality medical care to patients from birth through adolescence, with a focus on promoting healthy physical, emotional, and developmental growth into young adulthood. This role specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic pediatric conditions while fostering strong partnerships with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The Pediatrician is committed to delivering patient-centered care, preventive health services, and evidence-based treatment plans that support the overall well-being of children and adolescents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare services to pediatric patients in accordance with accepted medical standards, clinical guidelines, and organizational policies. Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, developmental screenings, diagnoses, treatment planning, and follow-up care. Develop individualized plans of care that address medical, developmental, behavioral, and psychosocial needs. Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute, chronic, and complex pediatric illnesses and injuries. Perform newborn examinations and assessments, ensuring appropriate medical care and follow-up. Perform medical procedures and minor surgical interventions within the scope of pediatric practice. Monitor and evaluate patients’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and developmental progress throughout childhood and adolescence. Educate patients and families regarding health maintenance, nutrition, immunizations, disease prevention, growth and development, and treatment plans. Promote preventive healthcare practices through routine wellness visits, screenings, vaccinations, and health education initiatives. Coordinate patient care with consulting physicians, specialists, advanced practice providers, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and other healthcare team members. Make appropriate specialty and subspecialty referrals while maintaining overall responsibility for continuity and coordination of patient care. Collaborate with and provide clinical supervision, guidance, and consultation to nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other mid-level providers as applicable. Participate in on-call coverage schedules and provide timely medical consultation and support as required. Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review activities, chart audits, and performance evaluations to ensure excellence in patient care and clinical outcomes. Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of clinical policies, procedures, and best practices. Support organizational goals, accreditation requirements, and patient safety initiatives. Attend and actively participate in mandatory trainings, staff meetings, committee meetings, and Alliance-sponsored activities. Stay current with advances in pediatric medicine through continuing medical education and professional development activities. Qualifications Education and Experience Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Residency Program in Pediatrics or Family Medicine with a pediatric care focus. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience in pediatric practice preferred; equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered. Demonstrated expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of pediatric medical conditions across all stages of childhood and adolescence. Licensure and Certifications Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration and Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) certification, as required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), or Board Certified/Eligible in Family Medicine with pediatric practice experience. Valid ECFMG certification, if applicable. All credentials and certifications required to maintain clinical privileges and credentialing within the organization. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills in pediatric medicine. Knowledge of child growth and development, preventive medicine, immunization practices, and pediatric behavioral health concerns. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with children, adolescents, and their families. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment. Commitment to patient-centered care, quality improvement, and evidence-based medical practice. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical setting. Physical Demands The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and other activities associated with direct patient care. Position Requirements Education and/or Experience Degree from accredited medical school and completion of accredited residency in Pediatrics or Family Practice. Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
