Shipping & Logistics Manager

Versatile High-Performance Coatings is seeking an experienced Shipping & Logistics Manager to lead our shipping, receiving, warehouse, transportation, and inventory operations across multiple locations.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands how warehouse and shipping operations directly support manufacturing and production. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading teams across multiple sites, working daily within ERP/WMS systems, managing carrier and vendor relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and continuously improving operational performance.

What You'll Do

• Lead shipping, receiving, and transportation operations across all three locations.
• Manage and develop warehouse and shipping teams while driving accountability, performance, and consistency.
• Ensure customer orders are shipped accurately, on time, and in accordance with customer requirements.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound freight, shipping schedules, receiving, storage, and movement of materials.
• Maintain accurate inventory transactions and operational data within ERP/WMS systems.
• Oversee cycle counts, physical inventory, inventory accuracy, and discrepancy resolution.
• Partner closely with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, and other operational teams.
• Manage freight carriers, brokers, and logistics providers; negotiate freight rates and transportation agreements.
• Monitor carrier performance, transportation costs, shipping KPIs, and service levels, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, hazardous materials, transportation, and applicable safety requirements, including required recordkeeping.
• Improve warehouse layout, material flow, space utilization, standard work, and operational efficiency.
• Lead continuous improvement and root-cause problem-solving efforts within shipping and warehouse operations.

What We're Looking For

• 7–10 years of progressive warehouse, shipping, logistics, or distribution leadership experience with demonstrated responsibility for leading teams and operations across multiple locations. This position directly manages the shipping function across three sites, so strong people leadership and operational ownership are critical.
• Hands-on ERP/WMS proficiency . This is not a role where system knowledge can be delegated. The Shipping & Logistics Manager will regularly work within ERP/WMS platforms for inventory transactions, receiving, reconciliation, cycle counts, material movement, and operational reporting. Strong general computer proficiency is required.
• Strong DOT and OSHA knowledge , including transportation compliance, warehouse safety, hazardous material handling, regulatory documentation, and recordkeeping.
• Freight and vendor negotiation experience , including managing carrier and broker relationships, evaluating service levels, negotiating rates and contracts, analyzing freight costs, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Manufacturing industry experience is required . The warehouse and shipping functions are closely connected to production operations, material flow, inventory accuracy, and customer fulfillment rather than operating as a standalone distribution environment.

A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred; we may consider equivalent experience.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in a warehouse/manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, adhesives, moving equipment, and non-temperature-controlled conditions. The role also includes physical activity associated with warehouse operations.
