Special Education Support Specialist

Assist campus special education staff with routine clerical and office duties as assigned. Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent. Special Knowledge/Skills: Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Ability to use personal computer and software. Ability to operate various office equipment (copier/fax machine). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with people effectively. Strong time management skills. Ability to lift and transport records/materials to designated areas.

Clerical Support: Assist in scheduling appointments, meetings and conferences with parents and school personnel. Assist with various office duties (i.e. type, file, copy materials, answer telephone). Perform necessary computer skills as requested by Campus IEP Specialist/Campus Diagnostician (i.e. word processing, database, and Special Education Management software). Prepare and maintain confidential records. Interact with and provide assistance to teachers, students, principals, district personnel, parents, and community volunteers. Have required reliable transportation between campuses during the day.

Other: Perform other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Equipment Used: Computer and various office equipment. Working Conditions: Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public. Physical Demands: Repetitive hand motions. Prolonged use of the computer. Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Moving small stacks of student files, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
