Patient Access Representative Administrative

Responsibilities:

• Register patients and schedule services.
• Verify demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Obtain insurance authorizations for treatments and procedures.
• Handle pre-admission, admission, discharge, and Emergency Department registration.
• Schedule laboratory and X-ray services.
• Complete registrations for outpatient, surgical, inpatient, oncology, cardiology, radiology, wound care, occupational health, PFTs, and other services.
• Explain and obtain required legal and consent forms.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Coordinate with patients, physician offices, and clinical departments.
• Handle patient calls using professional telephone etiquette.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
• Use hospital, physician, insurance, and other electronic systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Must be able to work in at least two Patient Access service areas, including the Emergency Department.
• Assist with training new employees and participate in continuing education.
• Work effectively with coworkers and internal/external customers.

Requirements:

• 23 years of current, relevant medical-setting experience.
• Previous scheduling and/or registration experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Paragon EMR experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and multitasking skills.
• High School Diploma or GED.
