Responsibilities Administer the extracurricular athletic program and oversee all operations and activities. Supervise licensed and non‑licensed staff, including assistant athletic directors, coaches, trainers, and support staff. Maintain files and records required by policy, regulation, law and good practice (player records, eligibility, physicals, transfers, certifications). Respond to information requests from OSA, IHSA, FOIA, Title IX, legal department, colleges, and press. Implement board policies and advise on regulatory matters related to athletics. Consult with students, staff and parents to assess department needs (equipment, budgeting, transportation, upgrades, technology). Evaluate athletic programs and engage in long‑term planning, adding or dropping programs, ensuring Title IX compliance, and staffing needs. Develop and update handbooks, brochures and policy manuals. Inform the school community about athletic programs via website, email and media. Keep current on research, issues and regulations related to athletics (academic, racial, gender, socio‑economic issues). Develop and maintain a grade‑check system for student athletes. Submit weekly eligibility reports and participation lists. Update team schedules on all school platforms for public viewing. Oversee transportation for all team travel. Develop a safety plan for every home venue. Monitor and support academic performance of student athletes, including ISP and academic support mechanisms. Direct and coordinate fiscal operations, budgeting, purchasing and capital improvements. Serve as consultant for supply and material selection, contract negotiations and bids. Supervise ticket sales and fundraising events; manage student activity funds. Assist OSA with hiring and payment of coaching staff. Guide planning and execution of parent volunteer organizations. Issue timely announcements of upcoming events and deadlines. Schedule and compensate officials, trainers, ticket takers and other event staff. Hire and pay lifeguards for aquatic sports. Arrange transportation, eligibility verification and visiting team needs. Provide emergency health care and first aid. Coordinate practice schedules for fields and facilities, including summer programs. Manage contracts for athletic contests and coordinate stadium usage with CPS. Execute agreements with Chicago Park Districts for IGA’s on athletic facilities. Enroll, screen, interview and recommend athletic staff. Ensure coaches and staff meet CPS and state certification requirements. Develop and implement a coaching evaluation system. Support professional development opportunities for coaches. Monitor staff time and attendance, and manage performance evaluations. Investigate employee complaints and conduct investigations. Develop strategies and policies to enhance athletic equity and inclusion. Provide leadership to promote athletic objectives aligned with CPS values. Attend practices, games and conferences for evaluation and stay current on instructional practices. Enforce State and City board policies on equal educational opportunity. Implement and oversee the school insurance program covering athletes. Maintain records of athletic contests, award winners and scholarship announcements. Build relationships with feeder programs and community resources. Utilize communication platforms for fairness and transparency. Resolve conflicts and anticipate potential problems. Coordinate department awards, recognition programs and alumni engagement. Manage public relations to establish a positive image for the department. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Master’s degree and/or general administrative endorsement preferred). NIAAA Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA) preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in interscholastic sports, including at least 3 years in sports program administration. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences. Ability to coordinate and manage all aspects of the athletic program, including financials. Ability to motivate student athletes and coaches. Ability to make rational decisions under stressful conditions. Proficiency using technology and applications, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and web content editing software. Other Requirements Non‑traditional schedule that includes evening and weekend hours, with seasonal changes. Transportation requirements as coordinated with OSA and CPS. Conditions of Employment Employees are required to establish and maintain Chicago residency and live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout employment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
