Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact in the educational lives of students as a contract paraprofessional working in school settings near Oakland, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to support classrooms, contribute to student growth, and collaborate with a dedicated educational team.
Qualified candidates demonstrate compassion, versatility, and initiative. All paraprofessionals are assigned to campuses based on need and must be comfortable assisting in a variety of tasks, including personal care, feeding, toileting, and supporting students with varying medical and behavioral needs. Adaptability and teamwork are essential, as assignment locations and activities may change.
Desired Qualifications:
- Meets at least one of these education requirements: Associate’s degree or higher, 48 college credits and a high school diploma, CBEST and high school diploma, or Instructional Aide Exam and high school diploma.
- Additional certifications (where applicable): Emergency anti-seizure medication training, Community First Aid and CPR, healthcare procedure training, experience with students with significant social-emotional needs, proficiency in sign language or Braille, or Vocational Nursing license.
- At least 6 months’ experience as a school paraprofessional within the last two years is highly preferred.
- Team player mindset—willingness to support wherever needed, including personal care tasks.
- Flexibility for assignments ranging from Pre-K to high school, bus aide routes, and willingness to adjust to school preferences.
- Excellent communication and reliability.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting instructional and behavioral plans for students with diverse abilities.
- Assisting with academic, social, and personal care needs.
- Collaborating with teachers, specialists, and families.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
