Job Title Elementary Assistant Principal Starting Date July 20, 2026 Primary Purpose Assist the school principal in overall administration of the instructional program and campus-level operations, coordinating assigned student activities and services. Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Management: Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs; encourage and support innovative instructional programs; promote the use of technology in teaching and learning. School/Organizational Climate: Promote a positive, caring climate for learning; deal sensitively and fairly with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds; communicate effectively with students and staff. School/Organizational Improvement: Develop campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community; develop and maintain information systems to track progress on performance objectives and academic excellence indicators. Personnel Management: Observe employee performance, record observations, conduct evaluation conferences, serve as second appraiser in teacher appraisal system; assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management: Supervise operations in principal’s absence; plan daily school activities, class schedules, teacher assignments, extracurricular schedules; supervise student attendance reporting; collaborate with department heads to compile annual budget requests; requisition supplies and maintain records; assist with safety inspections and drills; coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services; comply with federal, state, and district laws and policies. Student Management: Supervise students during non‑instructional periods; develop a student discipline management system promoting positive behavior; enforce school rules fairly and equitably; conduct conferences on student and school issues. School/Community Relations: Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit support; understand community needs and initiate activities to meet them; encourage community and parent involvement; maintain district records in accordance with policies. Professional Growth and Development: Participate in professional development activities to enhance job-related skills. Qualifications Education: Master’s degree and Texas assistant principal certificate (or other appropriate Texas certificate). Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation System (T‑TESS) appraiser. Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a classroom teacher. Skills: Thorough understanding of school operations; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate campus support operations.
