Sr Software Engineer

Designs, develops, tests, deploys, and supports cloud-based software for connected-device solutions. Independently owns moderately complex features and services from technical design through production deployment and operational support.The engineer applies strong software engineering fundamentals and practical experience with cloud-native and distributed systems to make sound implementation and design decisions, troubleshoot complex production issues, and improve the reliability, scalability, security, maintainability, and observability of the platform.This role collaborates closely with product, QA, operations, firmware, mobile, and other engineering teams, and providestechnical guidance through design discussions, code reviews, and mentoring of less experienced engineers.JOB DUTIES:Own the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support of backend services, RESTful APIs, and cloud components supporting connected products and customer-facing applications.Develop high-quality software using C#/.NET and established engineering patterns, coding standards, automated testing, and code-review practices.Design and implement integrations with databases, event streams, messaging systems, queues, storage, and other cloud-platform components.Translate product and system requirements into maintainable technical solutions; clarify ambiguity and identify dependencies, risks, and operational considerations early.Design solutions for moderately complex features and services, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and contribute to architectural decisions within the broader platform architecture.Write and maintain unit, integration, and component-level tests; promote effective quality practices throughout the development lifecycle.Participate in L3 production support, independently investigate complex issues using logs, metrics, traces, code behavior, and system dependencies, and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.Design for reliability, scalability, performance, security, resiliency, and observability; define meaningful telemetry and operational readiness for owned services.Collaborate with product, QA, operations, firmware, mobile, architecture, and other engineering teams to deliver cross-functional capabilities.Review code and technical designs, provide constructive feedback, and mentor less experienced engineers in software design, implementation, and production support.Identify and lead targeted improvements to system performance, reliability, maintainability, developer productivity, and technical debt.Contribute to agile planning, provide clear status and risk updates, and document designs, operational procedures, and troubleshooting findings.YOU MUST HAVE:5+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and supporting production software, or equivalent demonstrated technical depth.Strong hands-on programming experience with C#/.NET, Java, or a comparable object-oriented language, including sound knowledge of software design principles and maintainable coding practices.Experience designing, developing, and supporting backend services and RESTful APIs in production environments.Practical experience with a major cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.Experience with asynchronous messaging, event-driven architectures, microservices, or other distributed-system patterns.Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, data modeling, and appropriate data-access patterns.Strong automated-testing, debugging, and troubleshooting skills across application and service boundaries.Experience using source control, preferably Git, pull requests, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software-development practices.Demonstrated ability to independently deliver moderately complex software from design through deployment and production support.Ability to analyze technical tradeoffs, communicate recommendations clearly, and collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines.Experience supporting production systems and participating in incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action planning.WE VALUE:Production development experience with C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services such as App Service, Functions, Storage, Service Bus, Event Hubs, IoT Hub, or Cosmos DB.Experience building high-throughput, highly available, or geographically distributed cloud services.Experience with connected devices, IoT platforms, device telemetry, device state, provisioning, or command-and-control workflows.Experience with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Experience with observability platforms and practices, including structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, dashboards, alerting, and service-level indicators.Experience with infrastructure as code and automated cloud deployments.Experience working with globally distributed teams and operating with autonomy across time zones.WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:Innovation: Bring your creative ideas to the table and be part of a company that is shaping the future of the Smart HomeThe opportunity to be an engineering partner on products that individuals interact with on a daily basis that impacts their comfort, safety, and securityBe a part of a team that is growing and regularly investing in research and development to continue to strengthen the products we offer#LI-HL1#LI-HybridResideo is a global leader in smart home and building solutions, with trusted brands including Honeywell Home, First Alert, and Resideo helping people feel more comfortable, secure, connected, and in control every day.
