Transportation Manager II Department: Supply Chain | Location: Denver, Colorado, United States Job Summary: Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the direct driver management and supervision of midsize driver count, ensuring safe and timely service movement of freight, load assignment, and providing best‑in‑class customer service. The Transportation Manager must maintain DOT compliance, manage driver compliance with company regulations, and collaborate with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight and loads. The role requires flexibility to work any shift—day, night, and weekend—to ensure operational success. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers to minimize turnover and maximize productivity. Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and lead special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability. Oversee personnel management, including training, orientation, and assistance with internal and third‑party systems. Conduct analysis of fleet operations and profitability, recommend continuous improvement, measure key performance indicators, and present customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis. Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment in the market. Perform administrative duties such as payroll, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing and documentation, pay issue resolution, invoicing, and operational or financial reporting. Manage yard operations—inspect equipment, replace parts, coordinate repairs, and schedule preventative maintenance with maintenance teams. Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing/planning, mechanical problems, and accessorial pay issues in real time. Maintain a safety culture, including daily safety messages, monthly briefings, quarterly training, annual reviews, and enforcement of DOT and company safety requirements. Assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to deliver safe, on‑time service while handling exceptions and adjusting driver ETAs based on scheduling and environmental factors. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED plus 2‑3 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience. Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends. Strong professional communication skills, both internal and external. Experience establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships and fostering strong customer relationships. High‑level accuracy in processing information and making productive decisions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and adapt to a dynamic work environment. Experience holding people accountable and conducting difficult conversations. Capability to perform in a stressful, high‑pressure work environment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field. 1‑2 additional years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience. Compensation: $66,000 – $82,500 per year, based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. Eligible for annual bonus and incentives linked to profitability or volume as per company plans. This position is not eligible for employment‑based sponsorship.
