Customer Service Representative - National Sales (Hybrid: Onsite & Remote) (Northeast Region)

This hybrid position is primarily remote (90%) with occasional onsite support at distribution center offices across the Northeast (e.g., Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Greensburg, Manassas, Buffalo, Allentown, Bridgeport, Swedesboro, Perth Amboy, Albany, Watertown, Norwich, Seabrook). The role will typically require onsite presence about once per month for brief meetings or training. As a Customer Service Associate, you will serve as the primary contact and liaison between National Sales customers and the sales team as well as internal departments. Your responsibilities include processing incoming orders, handling customer inquiries, resolving service or billing complaints, coordinating deliveries, and providing product information. You will also back up Sales Coordinator roles as needed. Main Responsibilities Receive inbound calls and make outbound calls to customers to provide product and service information, take orders, and gather complaint details. Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and transactions, documenting inquiries, complaints, and actions taken. Resolve customer service or billing complaints, ensuring changes are made to address issues. Contact customers to respond to inquiries or notify them of claims, adjustments, and plan updates; forward unresolved complaints to the appropriate department. Obtain and review relevant information to assess complaint validity and determine potential causes. Coordinate same‑day deliveries and pickups for customers, processing pickup requests, and addressing delivery or routing questions. Answer product inquiries and share new or additional services or products. Compare disputed merchandise with original requisitions and invoice information; prepare invoices for returned goods. Contact customers affected by product recalls or withdrawals. Recommend improvements in products, shipping, service, or billing procedures to prevent future issues. Relationships Internal: Sales, Operations/Distribution/Support External: Customers What You Bring to the Table Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of three years in a customer service call‑center environment; food‑service distribution experience is a plus. Skills: Excellent verbal communication, problem‑resolution abilities, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook; CRM/phone technology experience preferred. Compensation and Benefits – The expected base rate for this role is between $17 and $26 per hour, depending on experience and location.
