General Manager Position at Layne's Chicken FingersEstablished in 1994, Layne's is the "born and bred in Texas" chicken finger restaurant. The Layne's culture stems from our roots in College Station, where back in 1994, we perfected our chicken finger frying technique. True to our roots, we are a fun, fast paced dynamic team of individuals who do not take ourselves seriously, but we take our food and our service seriously. Our General Managers are our HOST's and are responsible for the daily upholding of our core values. Our HOST's manage a team of officers, because at Layne's we believe everyone we hire is important, so the minimum job title you get is that of an officer.Reporting to: The President, the GM will be running our third store outside of College Station, as we begin to grow this very exciting brand across the country. This is a great growth opportunity to get in with a concept at the ground level. The GM will be responsible for maintaining the restaurant in accordance with the company's approved operating procedures and within the approved budget. Maintain excellent relationships with employees, piers owners and guests alike while promoting the professional growth and development of the entire team. The General Manager also provides strategic direction for their restaurant. This manager must maintain operations and drive results for his/her restaurant, through people development, sales and profit growth. The manager must hire, train and develop their employees and managers that share the Layne's values and culture. The GM must convey the Layne's culture to his/her crew and be a creative team player who likes to work hard, have fun, and show sincere dedication to Layne's Chicken Fingers. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Schedule, train, manage, and develop staff, by overseeing and managing the orientation process, monitor and manage and develop the performance of associates. Communicate closely with leadership regarding hiring, counselling and separation decisions, and ensure all of the company procedures are followed in regard to all HR issues.Manage your budget, and have a complete understanding of what you are accountable for financially and how much it costs to run your restaurant. Perform regular cash and safe audits per company policy, and constantly monitor trends in sales and costs to ensure that the restaurant is performing financially as well as it can be.Maintain the restaurant in an immaculately clean condition at all times and communicate any maintenance/repair/service issues with leadership as soon as possible.Represent Layne's as well as you can at all times in conjunction with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of the brand. Connect with the local community actively and constantly reach out to local schools, businesses to try to elevate the popularity of Layne's in the community.Always look for new ways to enhance the quality of the customer experience.Maintain excellent relationships with all customers.Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable lawsPerform such duties as scheduling, hiring, training, inventory and ordering, and inspecting of work stations back of house and front of house.Participate in employee meetings and training programsMaintain food cost while ensuring quality standardsManage purchasing and inventory controlsMust be knowledgeable on HACCP controls along with proper storage and use of foodConduct safety, sanitation and maintenance programs.Have the capability of handling sudden situations that arise, such as staff or customer complaints, lack of inventory, lack of staff members, and dealing with emergency situations with style and grace.Qualifications:Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required, a college degree in hospitality and management or a formal education in a related field preferredMinimum of 5 plus years of previous fast food drive through supervisory experienceMust be 18 years of age or olderProficient in a variety of technology systems, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and able to adapt to new systems quicklyOn occasion, may be required to lift and carry, push or pull heavy objects up to fifty pounds; kneel, bend or stoop, ascend or descend stairs; reach and grasp objectsAdditional Requirements:Be a Brand ambassador both in and outside of the restaurantAbility to align associates with the Layne's culture by balancing seriousness and having funHave demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly and effectively resolve issues that arise with both staff and customers.Excellent leadership and organizational skills, flexible and adaptable to constant changes and must possess attention to detailAbility to multi-task as well as stay on task and concentrate with constant interruptionsFood purchasing, food costs and inventory controlAbility to create budgets, flash reports, financial targets and forecastsKnowledge of cash handling procedures and reconciliation of multiple cash banks and reportsMonitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and servingExcellent communication skills both written and verbalManages time effectively and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlinesConformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behaviorServSafe or Department of Health certification a plusKnowledge and skills in analyzing profit and loss statements and overall financial performance of restaurantKnowledge and skills in staffingKnowledge of Labor LawsLocal restaurant marketing experience a plusAbility to lead, motivate, and empower the associates to higher levels of performanceAbility to manage basic tasks, the restaurant's associates and fiscal operationsTake initiativeHave excellent verbal and written skillsAbility to manage all public dealings in a professional mannerAbility to recognize problems and problem solveAbility to accept feedback and willingness to improveAbility to set goals, create plans, and convert plans into actionAbility to measure performance, subjectively and objectivelyCompensation: $15.00 - $20.00 per hourWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.Layne's was established in College Station in 1994.
