Job Description

United Parcel Service General Services Co. seeks Senior Software Development Engineer in Parsippany, NJ:

Job Duties: Build and enhance web and enterprise applications using modern languages and frameworks.

Analyze, test, and integrate application components with precision and creativity. Write clean, efficient, and scalable code to meet design specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues by identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions. Champion agile methodologies and best practices such as test-driven development and pair programming. Guide teams on when and how to apply agile vs. traditional approaches based on project needs. Stay current on engineering trends and coach peers in modern software development lifecycle practices. Define project milestones, estimate efforts, and track delivery across complex initiatives. Identify resource gaps, cross-team dependencies, and proactively adjust timelines to keep projects on track. Integrate progress across multiple projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive outcomes. Design and implement solutions that bring together multiple systems, databases, and platforms. Understand how internal customers leverage technology for competitive advantage and help them do it better. Communicate technical challenges and opportunities clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Surface user feedback and industry shifts to inform future product development. Partial telecommuting is an option. Hybrid work from company office in Parsippany, NJ.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree (or its foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related quantitative discipline, and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in any occupation in related field, OR Bachelor’s degree (or its foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related quantitative discipline, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or in any occupation in related field.

Special Skill Requirements: (1) Integrating APIs; (2) troubleshooting production issues; (3) implementing new features; (4) Mainframe modernization and migration; (5) Grafana (6) COBOL; (7) Azure Devops CI/CD; (8) CICS; (9) DB2; (10) machine learning. Any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience is acceptable. Partial telecommuting is an option. Hybrid work from company office in Parsippany, NJ.

Salary: $189,592 - $191,700 per annum and standard company benefits
