We offer continuous opportunities for learning and career advancement in a supportive and collaborative environment./li/ulpPrimary Duties Responsibilities:/pulliProvide excellent customer service to all patients, families, and caregivers./liliProfessionally greet patients and visitors as they arrive to the practice./liliCheck in patients for their appointments, while confirming and updating demographic and insurance information as necessary./liliPerform insurance eligibility and collect all patient co-payments and outstanding balances./liliUnderstand various aspects of medical insurance to give accurate answers to any patient insurance inquiries and to ensure appropriate insurance allocation and verification./liliCollect necessary patient signatures on required documents ahead of their appointment, including requesting outside/non-MFM patient medical records, procedure and laboratory test results./liliAssist patients, families, and caregivers with Patient Portal access and encourage Portal use./liliAnswer phones, schedule appointments, and manage online portal messages./liliPerform the daily management of Athena Inbox with respect to patient scheduling and staff messages to members of the clinical team, efficiently escalate questions or issues to appropriate clinical resources, as appropriate./liliProcess patient requests, including forms, referrals, and prescriptions, and redirect to clinical staff as necessary./liliTrack patient medical records for all alerts including quality measures and communicate to provider as appropriate./liliMonitor provider schedules for tardiness or no-shows and communicate with clinical staff and patients appropriately and following Patient Late Arrival and No Show policies./liliSchedule appointments in accordance with office scheduling policies using our EMR, Athena./liliMay perform surgical scheduling at local community hospitals./liliReview patient encounters to determine next steps and schedule all follow-up appointments, specialist visits, and diagnosing testing or imaging, as appropriate./liliProvide patients with relevant instructions, educational materials, or community resources in support of ongoing care, testing, and/or referrals./liliProvides cross coverage for other Practice staff members for absences, vacations, etc. and during variations in workflow, as needed./liliAssists with training and orientation of new staff, where applicable./liliPerforms all other related tasks which would facilitate the flow of patients through the practice, or which would enhance the quality of service to patients./liliUnderstand and maintain HIPAA regulations and patient privacy protocols./liliOther duties as assigned by managers and leads./li/ulpMinimum Requirements:/pulliHigh School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree in Business/Secretarial Science or Secretarial Certificate Program desirable./lili3 years secretarial experience or equivalent in a medical or health care related setting preferred./li/ulpKey Competencies Skills:/pulliStrong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills./liliOutstanding customer service skills, positive attitude, and professional appearance./liliKnowledge of medical terminology, procedures, diagnoses, and health insurance./liliEfficient problem solver./liliAdaptable, flexible, and reliable./liliAbility to multitask in a fast-paced office environment and work either independently or as part of a team./liliExcellent verbal and written communication skills./liliKnowledge of computer and relevant software applications./li/ulpPay Range: $19 to $25 per hour; commensurate with experience/ppAbout MFM Health/ppOur mission at MFM Health is to Make Lives Meaningfully Better.
