A leading geotechnical engineering consultancy in New York City is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with strong numerical modelling and advanced geotechnical analysis experience to join and help lead its technical team.

The group is involved in the design and analysis of complex geotechnical systems for major infrastructure, transportation, waterfront, and building projects across the United States and internationally. The role focuses on advanced analysis and engineering evaluation of soil-structure interaction, foundation systems, and seismic performance.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will contribute to the technical delivery of complex geotechnical projects, with a focus on numerical modelling, seismic analysis, and advanced foundation engineering. The position also includes coordination with project teams, mentoring of junior engineers, and client-facing technical support.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and review numerical modelling and geotechnical analyses including settlement, excavation, and foundation behaviour
• Conduct seismic and site response analyses for infrastructure and building projects
• Support the design and evaluation of deep foundations, excavation support systems, and earth-retaining structures
• Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and engineering recommendations
• Support project delivery including schedules, budgets, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams
• Provide technical guidance and review of work completed by junior engineers
• Engage with clients on technical matters as required

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (PhD Preferred)
• 10+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Strong experience in numerical modelling and advanced geotechnical analysis
• Proficiency with tools such as PLAXIS, FLAC, DEEPSOIL, or equivalent software
• Strong understanding of seismic analysis and soil-structure interaction principles
• Experience with geotechnical design for infrastructure or building projects in an urban environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
