Quality Technician - 2nd Shift

The Quality Inspector will provide part inspection, data collection, and coordinate inspection activities across all three shifts. This role reviews the Quality Hold Area daily and manages the timely sort/rework activities necessary for the timely execution of disposition within 24 hours when possible. The Inspector coordinates with production leaders to ensure efficient use of sorting labor, provides proper instructions and supplies, and records sort results as directed by the Quality Engineer or Manager. Responsibilities Complete and record all steps of the Quality Inspection/rework instructions under the guidance of the Quality Engineer for each part going through the Inspection Area. Review quality alerts, corrective actions, and containment activities to ensure instructions for inspection or rework are understood and followed by production associates. Contribute to the 8D team by identifying root cause(s), permanent corrective action, and preventative measures; provide root‑cause and corrective action reports. Report nonconforming product (holding, disposition, daily reporting) and assist in developing inspection criteria and standards. Conduct operator training on quality alerts, proper use of gauges, product inspection via check sheets, and other quality‑related training as assigned. Provide immediate feedback to team leaders, Quality Engineering, and management regarding compliance issues. Provide disposition of nonconforming or suspect material per Quality Engineering guidelines. Participate in continuous improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma. Adhere to all company and site policies and safety rules. Support other shifts as needed for training or inspection. Perform receiving inspection on purchased components or outside process materials when required. Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Ability to read and understand English. Knowledge of manufacturing and quality concepts consistent with Lydall TS16949 quality system. Demonstrated proficiency in using inspection gauges and equipment according to gauge instructions. Demonstrated proficiency in applying proper inspection methods and completing inspection check sheets for all attributes. Strong communication skills. Active participation in cross‑functional teams and effective interaction with team members. Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree in a technical or mathematical field. Experience with receiving inspection and use of calipers, micrometers, and travel indicators.
