General Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Manager to oversee all aspects of our high-volume sports bar and restaurant operation. The General Manager is responsible for leading the management team, developing staff, driving sales, controlling costs, maintaining service standards, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can successfully balance hospitality, operations, financial performance, and team development.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Recruit, hire, train, and develop shift leads and hourly team members for all positions
• Maintain our positive, accountable workplace culture
• Coach employees on performance, service standards, and professionalism
• Conduct performance evaluations and disciplinary actions when necessary per corporate HR policy
• Ensure proper staffing levels for all shifts and events, foreseeing seasonal and event fluctuations.

Operations Management

• Oversee daily operations of the restaurant, bar, kitchen, and special events, including scheduling
• Ensure consistent execution of service, food quality, and cleanliness standards
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
• Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve customer concerns professionally
• Coordinate with ownership regarding operational improvements and strategic goals

Financial Performance

• Manage labor costs and scheduling efficiency
• Monitor food, beverage, and operating costs
• Review daily sales reports and key performance metrics over time, providing ownership with appropriate reporting.
• Drive budgeting and forecasting
• Identify and operationalize opportunities to increase sales and profitability

Inventory & Vendor Management

• Oversee inventory controls for food, beverage, and supplies
• Manage ordering and vendor relationships
• Minimize waste, theft, and inventory variances
• Ensure accurate and safe receiving and storage procedures

Compliance & Safety

• Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including Mississippi ABC and Oxford, MS law enforcement.
• Ensure responsible alcohol service practices
• Oversee health department and sanitation standards (e.g., ServSafe,)
• Maintain a safe environment for guests and employees, especially managing security personnel

Events & Business Growth

• Assist with recruiting, planning and executing private events, promotions, and community partnerships
• Support marketing initiatives and guest engagement programs
• Drive revenue growth through exceptional operations and guest experiences

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of restaurant or bar experience
• Minimum 1 year in a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or equivalent leadership role
• Strong understanding of labor management, scheduling, and cost controls
• Experience with POS systems, inventory management payroll, and accounting (Quickbooks) software
• Experience managing high-volume operations
• Excellent leadership skills
• Communication skills are a high priority
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
• Experience managing college student employees
• Sports bar, casual dining, or hospitality experience
• Knowledge of food and beverage cost analysis
• Experience managing multiple departments including kitchen and front-of-house
