What Your Job Will Be Like We are seeking an administrative business support professional (job title: Administrative Support) to support NSTTF testing and operations. The National Solar Thermal Test Facility (NSTTF) at Sandia is at the center of a global community focused on advancing solar thermal solutions to address the obstacles facing the thermal and power generation in industrial processes, and to provide testing support for combined thermal and mechanical stress studies. The selected candidate will provide administrative support to ongoing projects. Ongoing projects may include construction of new test facilities, testing of aerospace hardware, or evaluating new energy technologies at pilot scale. In this role, you will also assist with tracking operations and site visits at the National Solar Thermal Test Facility (NSTTF). With a variety of customer testing, site visits and new projects on the horizon, you will be able to use your skills to support current projects and grow your skillset. On any given day, you may be called on to: Perform administrative support tasks for the National Solar Thermal Test Facilities Testing program. Design, develop, or improve processes to enhance workflow. Gather, collect, record, track, & verify customer or visit data from multiple sources. Support the scheduling of visits, tours, and test campaigns to ensure project delivery. Support programmatic inventory management and calibration tracking. Develop agendas to host DOE project managers, industry leaders, or government dignitaries. Use common office software and proprietary software to compile and generate reports, statistics, timelines, tables, and graphs; to review status of projects and budgets; and to create presentations. Assist in implementing and administering Sandia National Laboratories' policies and programs and provides guidance, interpretation, and administrative assistance on a wide variety of procedures. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Salary Range $48,500 - $89,000 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential. Qualifications We Require High school diploma plus three or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency. Qualifications We Desire Demonstrated organizational skills Experience hosting DOE program staff, industry leaders, & government dignitaries. Experience coordinating large deliveries direct to a site. Ability to work closely with other groups, such as communications, business development, facilities, and finance, to ensure project success. Experience collecting and using data to make suggestions or decisions. Willingness to collaborate with scientists and engineers of various backgrounds. Experience leading an improvement project. Experience in arranging travel and providing support at conferences or other professional events. An interest in Energy and its role in National Security. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and learn new areas/skills. Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in individual and group settings About Our Team The Solar Thermal Test & Demonstration department operates Sandia's National Solar Thermal Test Facility (NSTTF), a globally unique, multi-mission R&D capability that enables pioneering research and technology development for energy and aerospace applications. Using concentrated sunlight, our team creates extreme thermal and combined harsh environments for tests ranging from small-scale coupons to full-scale, multi-story components and systems. We develop and test advanced thermal protection materials, optical metrology systems, innovative solar thermal energy technologies, and heat transfer technologies, including heat exchangers and heat pumps. Security Clearance Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
