Cafeteria Support Staff assist in the daily operation of the school nutrition program by preparing and serving meals, maintaining food safety standards, supporting inventory management, and ensuring a clean and welcoming cafeteria environment for students and staff./ph3Qualifications/h3ulliA level of education necessary for reading and following written food menus and work schedules./liliBasic ability to read and speak/understand English./liliGeneral knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing and serving meats, breads, vegetables and other foods on a large scale./liliGeneral knowledge of the use or care of food preparation equipment/liliSkill in the use of standardized and specialized kitchen utensils and equipment/liliAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students and school staff./liliAbility to maintain emotional control./liliAbility to work with others in a close fast paced environment./liliAbility to address students, staff, and visitors in a pleasant, courteous manner./li/ulh3Essential Duties Responsibilities/h3pstrongFood Preparation and Service/strong/pulliPrepare food items according to written and verbal instructions./liliServe breakfast and lunch items to students and staff./liliReplenish food items and maintain organized, clean serving areas during meal service./liliAssist with preparation tasks for the following days meal service./li/ulpstrongFood Safety and Sanitation/strong/pulliFollow all personal hygiene and food safety procedures./liliDemonstrate knowledge of sanitation and food handling practices. Monitor and record food and equipment temperatures according to required guidelines./liliMaintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and serving environment./li/ulpstrongEquipment and Facility Management/strong/pulliTurn on, test, and monitor kitchen equipment at the beginning of each shift./liliSet up and break down serving areas and cafeteria spaces./liliWash and sanitize cooking utensils, serving tools, trays, and dishes./liliClean kitchen work areas, dining areas, and food preparation spaces./li/ulpstrongCashiering and Record Keeping/strong/pulliOperate the point of sale system and handle cashiering duties, to track amount food taken/liliAccurately record meals served and maintain required daily records and logs./li/ulpstrongInventory and Supplies/strong/pulliReceive food deliveries and assist with stocking and rotating inventory./liliEnsure proper storage and organization of food and supplies./li/ulpstrongCustomer Service and Professional Conduct/strong/pulliProvide courteous and respectful service to students, staff, and visitors./liliDemonstrate reliability, professionalism, and positive teamwork./liliParticipate in school nutrition promotions, special events, and community activities when needed./li/ulpstrongTraining and Compliance/strong/pulliParticipate in required training and professional development./liliFollow assigned schedules and time reporting procedures./li/ulpstrongOther Duties/strong/pulliPerform additional related duties as assigned to support the school nutrition program./li/ulpstrongSchool Supplies and Inventory/strong/pulliMaintain and monitor the inventory of school cleaning supplies/liliDistribute cleaning supplies to janitorial closets throughout the building/liliNotify administration when supplies are running low and need to be reordered/li/ulpstrongStudent and Restroom Support/strong/pulliRestock feminine hygiene products in girls bathrooms to ensure availability for students/li/ulpstrongStaff Space Organization and Cleaning/strong/pulliClean and organize the teachers lounge on a regular basis/liliEnsure microwaves and refrigerators in the teachers lounge are cleaned and maintained/liliRemove expired food items at the end of the week and maintain a sanitary shared space for staff/li/ulpstrongStaff Support and Supply Management/strong/pulliRestock and organize the monthly staff snack station/liliOrganize and maintain teacher supply closets so materials are easy to locate/liliAssist with organizing shared staff areas and storage spaces as needed/li/ulpstrongAdditional Responsibilities/strong/pulliRespond to staff and administrative requests for support tasks/liliAssist with other duties as needed to support school operations and maintain a clean, organized environment/li/ulpWork Environment: The position will work predominantly Monday Friday at their assigned location./ppCompensation Benefits: Carmen Schools also offers excellent health and worksite benefits, free life insurance, free employee assistance program (EAP), free short-term disability insurance, 403b retirement plan with match, flexible spending accounts, and generous paid time off./ppEqual Opportunity Employer: Carmen complies with applicable state and local laws governing non-discrimination.
