Plant Engineer – Kent, WA Location: Kent, WA – S. 222nd St. Pay: $95,000–$110,000 + Bonus Work Schedule: Mondays–Fridays 8:00AM–4:00PM, on‑call as needed. Travel: 10%–20%. Job Overview The Plant Engineer provides hands‑on technical expertise, mechanical engineering support, and operational oversight for the Kent Air Separation Unit (ASU) and regional nitrogen production plant. The role focuses on maximizing plant reliability, optimizing energy efficiency, executing capital expenditure projects, and maintaining strict regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Act as primary onsite technical expert for all processing equipment (multi‑stage compressors, cryogenic pumps, expansion turbines, storage vessels, distillation coldbox). Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and failure investigations to eliminate critical asset downtime. Monitor and interpret plant performance data, KPIs and diagnostic readouts to identify efficiency degradation or mechanical strain. Ensure full plant compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, cGMP, and internal EHS guidelines. Oversee and execute engineering plans for plant maintenance outages, equipment overhauls, and plant restarts/thaws. Contribute to PHA studies (HAZOP reviews) and identify process safety hazards. Design and execute minor‑to‑midsize capital projects targeting efficiency and modernizing plant infrastructure. Manage contractors and vendor technicians during installation, checkout, and commissioning phases. Lead and manage the site’s MOC process, ensuring engineering review, safety assessment, documentation updates, and PSSR prior to implementation. Interpret, review, and update plant documentation (P&IDs, process logic sheets, interlock matrices, equipment specifications). Manage multiple concurrent tasks, shifting priorities between long‑term projects and daily operational needs. Qualifications B.S. in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical) preferred. 3–5+ years of operational or project engineering experience; on‑call technical assistance to plant personnel. Proficiency in high‑pressure fluid systems, rotating equipment, thermodynamics, PLC‑controlled automation. Physical capability to move around an industrial site, stand or walk for long periods, scale vertical structures, and lift up to 25lbs. Preferred: experience operating or maintaining cryogenic ASUs and bulk liquid nitrogen/oxygen systems. Experience with CMMS (Maximo, SAP, or similar) for predictive maintenance workflows. Proficiency reading logic maps (Allen‑Bradley or Siemens) and diagnosing control loop discrepancies.
