Montessori Assistant teacher

Job Description

The Montessori Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in supporting the individual classroom environment by working closely with the Lead Teacher and Program Director. This position focuses on facilitating the Montessori-specific curriculum while ensuring a safe, nurturing, and well-organized setting that promotes children's growth and learning. The assistant teacher collaborates with the teaching team and occasionally communicates with parents to support each child's development effectively.

Responsibilities

Support classroom activities and prepare learning materials aligned with Montessori methods
Supervise children to ensure safety and positive behavior
Assist with lesson implementation and activity facilitation
Guide child behavior with patience and consistency
Set up and maintain an inviting, organized learning environment
Observe and report on children's progress and needs to lead staff
Manage safety protocols and respond to emergencies as needed
Collaborate closely with the teaching team to meet program goals
Occasionally communicate with parents to provide updates and support

Preferred Qualifications

1+ years experience in early childhood education
High School Diploma or equivalent
CPR and First Aid Certification (support provided for DE certification)
Knowledge of child development principles
Strong classroom management skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Patience and creativity in engaging children
Observation skills to track learning and behavior
Problem-solving aptitude within a classroom setting
