As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, Beacon serves over 2,000 people with disabilities each year. Beacon provides job training and placement, supported and center-based employment, and day treatment programs to assist nearly two-thirds of working-age people with disabilities who do not have a job. As a Beacon employee, you can be a part of delivering our mission and improving the lives of people with disabilities.POSITION INTRODUCTION: The responsibilities of the Employment Specialist are to develop, implement, monitor and maintain career opportunities for clients including job skills training, career development/placement career retention and advancement services. Case management or knowledge of SMI or GMHSU services preferred. Many employees have $0 monthly medical insurance premiums.Dental, vision, life and array of other insurance plans to choose from.Employee Assistance Program.Vacation, sick leave and extended sick leave plus holidays and floating holidays.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ability to operate a motor vehicle.Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively.Ability to work effectively independently and in a team-orientated environment.Ability to obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance.QUALIFICATIONS:Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.Exceptional organizational skills a must.Bachelor's Degree and at least one year of full-time professional and/or volunteer experience in a social work setting and working with persons with disabilities; OR Associate's Degree and two years full-time professional and/or volunteer experience in a social work setting and at least one year working with persons with disabilities; OR High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and 18 credit hours of post-high school education in a field related to social work and two years of full-time professional and/or volunteer experience in a social work setting and at least one year working with persons with disabilities; OR High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and four years of full-time professional and/or volunteer experience in a social work setting and at least one year working with persons with disabilities.WORK HOURS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday.We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage all qualified persons with disabilities and veterans to apply.
