Dialysis Assistant St. Joseph's Incenter - 20 Hours/Week Day Shift Our dialysis center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dialysis Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to efficient dialysis unit operations by performing stocking and custodial duties. Location: 44200 Woodward Ave., Suite 109, Pontiac MI 48341 Status: Part Time – Eligible for Part – Time Benefits Department Description St. Joseph Dialysis is an outpatient dialysis facility. The facility oversees peritoneal and home dialysis patients. Census is 98 incenter patients. The department is staffed with nephrologists, registered nurses, and dialysis clinical technicians. The unit has multiple support staff members including the front desk team and tech leader staff (machine maintenance) that may assist with operational duties within the clinic. Our team provides patient education as well as referrals to transplant services for sites the patient requests to be referred to. The unit is typically open Monday through Saturday 5:00 am to 5:30 pm for patient care hours with some flexibility based on the clinic's needs. General Summary Properly clean patient equipment and tear down machines. Maintain storage of supplies and equipment. Follow standard precautions and infection control policies and procedures for dialysis setting, including OSHA regulations and MSDS information sheets. Treat patients and families with respect, dignity and compassion. Maintain a neat, clean and safe work area, which includes ancillary equipment. Help minimize waste in assigned unit; understand Lean principles. Prepare blood samples for shipment. Assist clinical staff as needed in treatment area, e.g., holding needle sites, transporting, assisting with weighing, etc. Education / Experience Required High school diploma or GED. Flexibility to work in a complex and changing environment. Physical Demands / Working Conditions Stand and walk most of the time on duty. Work rotating shifts as necessary. Lift and push patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs. Lift and carry dialysate solution containers. May transport 55 gallon concentrate containers. May be subject to hazardous waste and materials.
