Description The Title IX Coordinator provides University-wide leadership,oversight, and coordination of Hampton University’s compliance withTitle IX and related federal and state civil rights requirements.The Title IX Coordinator has responsibility for Title IX mattersinvolving students, faculty, staff, administrators, applicants,visitors, contractors, and other members of the Universitycommunity.The Title IX Coordinator ensures that reports of sexdiscrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence,domestic violence, stalking, retaliation, and related misconductare addressed promptly, fairly, impartially, and consistently. TheTitle IX Coordinator also advises senior University leadershipregarding compliance, institutional risk, policy development,training, prevention, and corrective action. Examples of Duties Serve as Hampton University’s designated Title IXCoordinator. Provide centralized oversight of Title IX compliance across allacademic, administrative, residential, athletic, and employmentoperations. Receive, review, and assess reports involving sexdiscrimination, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, retaliation,and related conduct. Determine jurisdiction, immediate safety concerns, supportivemeasures, and appropriate resolution options. Coordinate supportive measures for students, faculty, and staffwhile maintaining fairness to all parties. Conduct or oversee prompt, thorough, impartial, andtrauma-informed investigations. Assign and supervise investigators, decision-makers, hearingofficers, advisors, informal resolution facilitators, and appealofficials. Ensure that all individuals involved in Title IX processes areproperly trained and free from conflicts of interest or bias. Maintain centralized oversight of all Title IX reports,investigations, informal resolutions, hearings, appeals, andcorrective actions. Coordinate student-related matters with Student Affairs,Judicial Affairs, Residence Life, Counseling Services, Athletics,and Campus Police. Coordinate employee-related matters with Human Resources,Academic Affairs, department leadership, and Universitycounsel. Oversee matters involving faculty while respecting applicablefaculty policies, contractual requirements, and shared-governanceprocedures. Ensure appropriate coordination when matters involve studentconduct, employment, academic, criminal, or campus safetyprocesses. Advise the President, Chief of Staff, General Counsel, andother senior leaders regarding Title IX compliance, emergingconcerns, and institutional risk. Review and recommend revisions to University policies,procedures, reporting practices, and training requirements. Develop and oversee Title IX education, prevention, andawareness programs for students, faculty, staff, administrators,coaches, and designated employees. Train responsible employees regarding reporting obligations andappropriate responses to disclosures. Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential records of reports,supportive measures, investigations, resolutions, hearings,appeals, and training. Prepare periodic reports regarding case volume, trends,response times, outcomes, and areas of institutional concern. Analyze case data to identify patterns, systemic concerns,repeat allegations, and conditions requiring broader correctiveaction. Coordinate with Campus Police and other officials regardingClery Act requirements, crime reporting, timely warnings, andemergency notifications. Assist with government inquiries, audits, compliance reviews,litigation matters, and requests for information. Monitor for retaliation and coordinate appropriate interventionwhen concerns are identified. Build relationships with community advocacy organizations,medical providers, law enforcement agencies, and other externalresources. Participate in University committees related to compliance,campus safety, crisis management, student welfare, and employeerelations. Supervise Title IX staff, investigators, case managers,administrative personnel, and external consultants asassigned. Perform other duties related to Title IX compliance andinstitutional responsibility as assigned. A Juris Doctor degree, terminal degree, recognized Title IXcertification, prior service as a Title IX Coordinator, andexperience within a residential higher education environment arepreferred. Supplemental Information Must be able to maintain confidentiality and appropriatelyhandle sensitive records and information. Must be able to remain neutral and professional duringcontested or emotionally charged matters. Must be available to respond to urgent Title IX and campussafety concerns outside regular business hours when necessary. Some evening, weekend, on-call, and travel responsibilities maybe required. Must successfully complete all University-required backgroundchecks and employment screening requirements.
