Roofing Outside Sales Representative

Location: Lake in the Hills, IL, with field work at customer properties throughout the Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs

Work arrangement: In-person; field-based sales with a self-managed schedule. Comission Only

Our founder brings years of construction and restoration experience and remains actively involved in the field. About the Role

You'll generate business, inspect properties, explain restoration options, and guide homeowners through their projects. This opportunity fits a salesperson who enjoys meeting people, follows through consistently, and is ready to build a pipeline through direct outreach and referrals. Roofing experience is helpful, but it is not required. Experience selling solar, pest control, vehicles, or other products and services can translate well to this role.

You'll manage your schedule around prospecting, homeowner appointments, inspections, and project visits. Business is busiest during spring, summer, and fall, with a winter slowdown; the company typically winds down around Christmas. Field work includes local travel, outdoor conditions, carrying ladders, and accessing roofs when safe. The team also uses drones and other inspection tools when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate leads through door-to-door outreach, referrals, and consistent follow-up.
• Build relationships with homeowners in storm-affected neighborhoods and other service areas.
• Inspect roofing, siding, and gutters to identify damage and potential project needs.
• Use company inspection and roof measurement tools to support project assessments.
• Explain available services and help homeowners understand the proposed scope of work.
• Address questions and objections honestly and professionally.
• Follow up with prospects and customers to keep projects moving.
• Attend project builds and coordinate with the team to support the customer experience.
• Develop your sales skills, with opportunities to help train others as you gain experience.

Required Qualifications

• Previous sales experience and confidence starting conversations with new customers.
• Willingness to generate your own leads, including door-to-door prospecting.
• Strong organization, time management, and follow-through.
• Honest communication, reliability, and a consistent work ethic.
• Ability to perform field inspections, carry a ladder, and access roofs safely, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Roofing, siding, storm restoration, construction, or trades experience.
• Outside sales or door-to-door sales experience.
• Experience coaching salespeople or leading a field sales team.

Pay and Benefits

Choose the compensation option that fits your goals:

• Commission-only: $100,000 - $300,000 annual on-target earnings for full-time sales effort. This is performance-based earning potential, not a guaranteed salary.
• Base pay plus commission : A base-pay option with a lower commission percentage. The base amount and commission terms will be discussed during the hiring process.

Your compensation can be reviewed as you demonstrate results. You do not have to wait for an annual review to discuss an increase or a change in pay structure; adjustments depend on performance and agreement with the company
