Since 1917, Globe Machine has been a manufacturer of industrial machines, systems, and plants for advanced composites, building products, and pulp & paper.The successful machinist will have the capability to do manual and automated machining. Furthermore, they will be able to read and work from blueprints/schematics and perform tasks within budget hours.Please note: this role is a SECOND SHIFT ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or Vernier calipersMachine parts to specifications using CNC and manual machine tools, such as lathes, vertical milling machines, horizontal milling machines, and drill pressesPerform G-Code/M-Code self-programmingSet up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operationsAlign and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machinesMeasure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometersHandle and dispose of hazardous materials (e.g., coolants, solvents) in approved manner (per Material Safety Data Sheets) using personal protective equipment, as requiredPerform bench work (e.g., drilling, honing, tapping, reaming, deburring) on parts as requiredMonitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining processMaintain machine tools in proper operational conditionStudy sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate productsOperate equipment to verify operational efficiency and adjust as neededCheck work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooledDemonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety standards in a manufacturing environment.Be available to work overtime when needed to ensure deadlines are metSafely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and manlifts.QUALIFICATIONS:High school graduate or G.E.D. strongly preferred.Individuals must have a minimum 3 years of experience as a machinist in job shop environment. Must be able to read various measuring tools (i.e. calipers, micrometer & bore gauges). Must be comfortable running one off parts and small production runs. Must be knowledgeable on Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerance. Proven understanding of speeds and feeds, and machine codes required. Proven experience working with various types of materials (Stainless, Leadloy, Brass, Delrin, 1045, 1050, Etc.) required.Must be able to safely lift 50-lb. Ability to read engineering drawings required.Must possess good math skills (Trig, Geometry, Etc.) Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, tactful, and self-directed when faced with tight deadlines and fluid environments required.Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English required.Must possess a proven history of being reliable with excellent attendance.Conduct oneself with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards.
