ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

General Accounting

1. Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely month-end and year-end close.
2. Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, operating budgets, audits, grant reporting, and the maintenance of internal controls in accordance with GAAP, grant requirements, and YMCA policies.
3. Monitor grants and restricted funding, maintain supporting documentation, and ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting deadlines.
4. Crosstrain with accounting staff to support operations

Accounts Receivable & Participant Accounting

1. Manage participant accounts receivable, including account adjustments, scholarships, withdrawals, payment plans, collections, write-offs, and third-party funding reconciliation in accordance with YMCA policies.
2. Coordinate with Child Development leadership, Program Directors, ELRC, and other funding agencies to ensure accurate participant billing, reporting, funding eligibility, and account maintenance.

Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

1. Administer following CACFP requirements, participant eligibility tracking, monthly reporting, reimbursement processing, and audit preparation.

Payroll Administration

1. Serve as backup payroll administrator by reviewing timecards, processing approved payroll changes, coordinating updates with Human Resources, and assisting with payroll compliance and reporting.

Program & Administrative Support

1. Support Child Development financial operations by assisting with records, participant account maintenance, financial inquiries, and other program support activities.
2. Collaborate Human Resources, Child Development, and other departments to ensure accurate financial records, efficient workflows, and consistent organizational practices.
3. Maintain strict confidentiality of financial, payroll, employee, and participant information.
4. Cross-train within the Finance Department to ensure continuity of operations and provide support as needed.
5. Perform other accounting, financial, and administrative duties and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/related field preferred, and experience of a minimum of 2 years in an accounting role.
• Knowledge of general ledger and accounting functions
• Knowledge of and expertise with computerized accounting systems and sound working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
• Efficient problem-solving skills
• Deadline-Oriented
• Must be highly organized, resourceful, and can work with confidential matters
