Systems Engineer (Associate, Mid-Level, Senior)

Job Overview Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s (BDS) is seeking a System Engineer to join our System Engineering Team in Oklahoma City, OK. Our teams are hiring for Associate (Level 2), Mid‑Level (Level 3), or Senior (Level 4) System Engineers. Role Summary As a System Engineer, you will work across the entire program lifecycle, from conceptual development to design, test, production, and sustainment of fielded aircraft for U.S. Government and international customers. You will investigate hazards, challenge conventional thinking, and identify potential risks, interfacing with Engineering, Program Management, and customers. Primary Responsibilities Conduct system research and analysis to identify or investigate reported in‑service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns and quantify impact. Identify safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommend corrective actions. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements into designs, operations, and procedures. Perform or review tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify the system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements. Create and maintain aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes. Document safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation, and verification activities in compliance with relevant standards. Develop and maintain safety and corrective action plans. Assist with demonstrating safety hazard risk mitigations and control methods to the customer and regulators. Ensure mission success through execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycle. Contribute to establishing global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods. Basic Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent. Associated (Level 2): 2+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. citizenship. 1+ years of experience in systems, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering. 1+ years of experience working across organizations and cross‑functional groups to ensure project coordination, implementation, and completion. Preferred Qualifications Mid‑Level (Level 3): 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent. Senior (Level 4): 9+ years of related work experience or equivalent. Experience with SAE Standard ARP 4754A, RTCA DO‑178 or DO‑254. Experience with system safety requirements of MIL‑STD‑882 and SAE ARP 4761/4754.
