Pharmacist

The Retail Pharmacist is responsible for overseeing all retail pharmaceutical services, including procurement, distribution, storage, and administration of medications in compliance with state and federal regulations. This role requires ensuring quality assurance, managing pharmacy staff, counseling patients on medication use, and maintaining accurate records. The Retail Pharmacist collaborates effectively with healthcare professionals and customers to provide exceptional service and ensure safe medication practices. Responsibilities:

• Compound and dispense prescribed medications and pharmaceuticals for patient care.
• Review prescriptions for accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
• Direct pharmacy staff engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
• Provide drug information and counseling to pharmacy customers regarding interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.
• Engage patients and clients in customer service and pharmacy program integrations.
• Maintain quality assurance procedures, security of controlled substances, and hazardous waste disposal.
• Enter and maintain pharmacy data including patient information, medication, and inventory.
• Instruct interns and pharmacy personnel, maintaining required pharmacist-to-technician and pharmacist-to-intern ratios.
• Resolve third-party prescription system issues and report prescription errors promptly.
• Implement loss prevention controls and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals.
• Participate in continuing education and stay current with pharmacy laws, regulations, and programs.
• Manage difficult customer situations and ensure confidentiality and customer satisfaction.
• Maximize sales and control expenses within the retail pharmacy.
• Ensure adherence to pharmacy policies, safety, security, and sanitation standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including technician-related tasks depending on staff availability.

• Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of California.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an accredited college.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing retail pharmaceutical services.
• Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office applications and maintain organized records.

• Experience in managing pharmacy staff and training interns.
• Familiarity with third-party prescription systems and loss prevention strategies.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across organizational levels.
• Continuous pursuit of professional development and pharmacy-related education.

• Must demonstrate professional behavior on and off duty as a representative of the pharmacy.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and accept direction within the chain of command.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling emotional or difficult customer interactions.
• May perform technician-related duties depending on staffing levels.

• Work schedule and shifts are determined by the Retail Pharmacy Manager to meet operational needs.
• Flexibility to work various shifts as required to ensure pharmacy coverage.
