Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in Wausau, Wisconsin. This position involves providing specialized perioperative care in a busy hospital setting with a focus on general surgery, GYN, Urology, Plastics, ENT, GI, and other specialties. The role requires flexibility, resilience, and strong clinical skills to manage a variety of cases across a unit with 21 operating rooms.

Job Details:

• Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
• Start Date: 08/17/2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Days, 8-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week
• Shift Requirements: 8-hour variable shifts including 0700-1530, 0900-1730, and 1100-1930
• Primary Location: Aspirus Wausau Hospital ON THE GENERAL TEAM
• Float Requirements: Aspirus Merrill, Aspirus Langlade, Aspirus Medford, and Aspirus Stanley, if needed
• On Call/Call-Back: 4-7 weeknight call shifts, 1-2 weekend call shifts, 30-minute response time required; call-back minimum of 2 hours
• Weekend/Holiday: Weekend for call only; holiday rotation included
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Wisconsin Registered Nurse License
• Experience: 5+ years OR experience, including at least 1 travel assignment; experience in a larger facility with comparable ORs of 20, circulating required, orthopedic neuro and spine experience required; Da Vinci robotic experience required; Trauma Level II experience required
• Additional Skills: Charting with Epic preferred; flexible candidate with excellent work ethic; willing to perform downtime tasks; scrub experience preferred; scrubs can be any color
• Equipment: 21 ORs, approx. 45 cases daily; includes all specialties; familiarity with general surgery, GYN, Urology, Plastics, ENT, GI preferred
• Other Requirements: Own vehicle needed; can be on call during low census unbillable hours; COVID and flu vaccination required during flu season with mandatory masking for decliners; hard-working, resilient, adaptable to change, social candidate preferred
