Patient Registration Representative I FT Days

JOB SUMMARY:

The HIM Specialist is responsible for all HIM functions and facility goals, while establishing effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients and their family members, physicians and their staff, hospital employees, vendors, and home office employees.

Required Skills

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Retrieves discharged patient records from various units/locations.
• Assembles paper documentation of discharged patient records.
• Prepares medical record for scanning and for medical record analysis. 
• Scans completed paper documentation into the Electronic Health Record according to the appropriate Clinical Note.
• Scans incoming loose paper documentation into the Electronic Health Record according to the appropriate Clinical Note.
• Works to ensure timely completion of scanning process.
• Responds to requests for release of confidential medical record information, and adheres to the strictest protection of patients’ protected health information.
• Assists with preparation of physician marketing packets.
• May cross-train on analysis.
• Engages in communication with public, employees, physicians and their staff, in courteous manner.
• Keeps Director informed of any issues within the Department.
• Participates in Departmental meetings.
• Stays compliant with required annual courses
• Other duties as assigned by Director

Required Experience

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

• None

SPECIFIC JOB EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
• Knowledge of routine office procedure and equipment.
• Medical field related experience helpful
• Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMicrosoft product knowledge (including Excel, Power Point, Access and Word) preferred.
• Ability to utilize computer skills to work with an electronic health record.
• Must have good use of the English language, able to spell accurately, and have neat legible handwriting.
• Must type 45 wpm accurately.
• Must understand confidential nature of hospital work.
