Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in a dynamic Med/Surg and Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients and collaborate effectively with a team of healthcare professionals.

Shift and Scheduling

• Shift: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Yes, 1-2 winter holidays
• Call Requirement: Yes, up to 4 times during contract duration

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in a telemetry environment with a focus on Med/Surg.
• Float as needed to various Med/Surg and Telemetry units to meet patient care demands.
• Monitor patients' health and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Prepare and assist with patient examinations and procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Educate patients and families regarding health conditions and medications.

Unit Information

• 7th Floor - Surgical unit (abdominal surgeries, trauma) - 36 beds
• 8BC - Long-term low acuity unit - 17 beds
• 9th Floor - General medical cases - 38 beds
• 2 South - Short stay and cardiac unit - 41 beds
• 3 South - Neuro unit - 33 beds
• 4 South - Ortho and spine unit - 21 beds

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience required.
• Current BLS Certification is mandatory.
• Ability to titrate IV drips according to established protocols.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring preferred.

Patient Care and Team Structure

• Patient ratios: RNs typically manage 4-5 patients; CNAs manage 8-11 patients.
• Telemetry monitored remotely by techs, with RNs verifying readings.
• Available respiratory equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP.

Additional Information

• New team members will receive a 4-hour orientation for each assigned unit. Flexibility to float to alternate units and fulfillment of additional roles, such as CNA or entrance screener, may be required based on staffing needs.
