Responsibilities Job Summary: Performs a variety of tasks that maintain an organized and sterile field during surgeries and procedures, including scrubbing, selecting, providing, and prepping surgical instruments, supplies and equipment while adhering to HonorHealth policies. Scrubs and provides instruments, sutures and other sterile supplies during procedures. Anticipates the needs for additional equipment, supplies and/or instruments by assessing specific patient, physician and procedure requirements, responding by meeting or communicating those needs. Maintains a proper sterile field. Prepares for procedures by pulling appropriate instruments and supplies and ensuring their order. Assumes accountability for instrumentation and returns it to the decontamination room or Central Sterile Processing Department. Actively participates as a member of the health‑care team, including orientation and instruction of personnel in the scrub role. Participates in re‑stocking and cleaning of operating rooms and equipment. Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area and reports unsafe conditions. Assists with orientation, guidance, and performance evaluation of new staff and students. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology preferred. Experience: 10 months of surgical technician experience or graduate of a vocational surgical technician school. Required Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS).
