Seasonal Park Maintenance Worker

Position OverviewPerforms various semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of town buildings, parks and recreation areas. An employee in this class performs a variety of tasks that relate to building repair and maintenance of parks, ball fields, and recreation facilities. Work may include operation of equipment. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor and is checked by observation and by reports.Examples of DutiesPerforms grounds keeping activities such as mowing grass, weeding, weed-eating, and mulching.Makes regular inspections of parks; removes leaves, empties trash, stocks and cleans restrooms; inspects for needed repairs.Performs building maintenance such as painting, carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing and roofing tasks.Drags, lines and sets bases for ball fields.Operates backhoe, front end loader, rubber tire tractor, bobcat, mowing equipment, weed eaters, leaf blowers, and edgersAssists in set up for special town functions and activitiesPerforms related duties as required.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Valid NC Driver's LicenseThis position is not eligible for benefits.
