Job Description

Required: Administration, management, and tuning of Cloudera & Hadoop Strong UNIX/Linux knowledge including the ability to understand the interaction between applications and the operating system and to provide recommendations and suggestions related to troubleshooting and performance improvement. Experience administering a reasonably-sized Hadoop cluster (20+ nodes). Experience with the Cloudera distribution is preferred. Collaborate with the infrastructure team to coordinate OS-level patching and to identify and solve hardware related issues Cluster & Node Maintenance, Health Checks, Automation of Job Monitoring by creating alerts Ability to create infrastructure capacity plans based on quantitative and qualitative data points. Basic understanding of networking. No need for network administration or deep networking skills. Team player with strong inter-personal skills. Assist development team in identifying the root cause of slow performing jobs / queries (HDFS) Work with 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot as necessary Capacity Planning / Forecasting Develop strategy to automate management and deployment processes (DevOps) Deploying to all platform components Planning and conducting platform upgrades Work with development staff to ensure all components are ready for release / deployment Limited configuration management including git merges, cutting release branches and general management of the codebase Some knowledge of general JVM tuning Preferred: Exposure to other new Big Data technologies available in market High analytical skills A high degree of initiative and flexibility High customer orientation High quality awareness Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education. At least 4 years of experience with Information Technology.
