Division Controller (Ballwin)

The Business Unit Finance Director serves as the senior finance business partner to the division leadership team, providing strategic and operational financial leadership across commercial finance, operations finance, FP&A, controllership, compliance, and talent development.Acts as the strategic and enterprise mindset finance leader for the business, driving profitable growth, capital allocation, operational performance, and long-term value creation. Partners with the leadership team to deliver Bussmann's growth strategy, enabling expansion toward $900M+i n revenue and $421M in operating profit by 2030 through disciplined planning, investment prioritization, pricing excellence, productivity, and financial governance. Serves as a trusted advisor who translates business strategy into financial outcomes, balances short- and long-term priorities, and develops a high-performing finance organization capable of supporting global growth, operational excellence, and enterprise-wide decision making.This role is responsible for establishing and leading a disciplined finance operating cadence, including daily and weekly business reviews, monthly close and forecast processes, quarterly Risk & Opportunity (R&O) and performance reviews, and annual profit planning and strategic planning activities.The Finance Director will translate financial performance into actionable business insights and partner closely with Commercial, Product Management, Engineering, Pricing, SIOP, Operations, Supply Chain, Shared Services, and Corporate Finance teams to drive profitable growth, margin expansion, productivity improvements, working capital optimization, cash flow generation, and forecast accuracy.This leader will provide strong commercial finance oversight, including review and challenge of orders, backlog, pricing strategies, customer and product profitability, major quotations, contract economics, and growth initiatives. In addition, the role will lead operations finance efforts focused on manufacturing performance, cost accounting, inventory management, productivity initiatives, capital investments, and operational efficiency.The Finance Director is accountable for maintaining a strong internal control environment, ensuring compliance with company policies, U.S. GAAP, SOX requirements, statutory and tax regulations, balance sheet integrity, delegation of authority requirements, audit readiness, and financial reporting accuracy.A key responsibility of the role is to build organizational capability through coaching, developing, and evaluating finance talent, strengthening succession plans, partnering with HR on talent strategy, and driving best practices, governance, and continuous improvement across the finance organization.The expected annual salary range for this role is $165000 - $242000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. What you’ll do:Strategic Business Partnership• Serve as a trusted advisor to division leadership, influencing business decisions and driving financial performance.• Partner effectively with General Management, Commercial, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Corporate Finance leaders.• Translate complex financial results into actionable business recommendations.Commercial Finance Leadership• Lead financial oversight of pricing, orders and backlog, product and customer profitability, margin performance, large quotation support, contract economics, warranty analysis, and growth initiatives.• Drive profitable growth through data-driven commercial decision making.Operations Finance Excellence• Provide leadership across manufacturing finance, cost accounting, inventory management, productivity initiatives, capital investment analysis, and working capital performance.• Ensure financial visibility and accountability for operational performance.FP&A and Performance Management• Lead annual profit planning, strategic planning, forecasting, Risk & Opportunity reviews, scenario analysis, and performance reporting.• Drive alignment between top-down objectives and bottom-up forecasts.• Develop meaningful business performance metrics and bridge analyses.Controllership and Compliance• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, tax and statutory requirements, internal policies, and financial controls.• Maintain balance sheet integrity and support internal and external audit activities.• Champion financial reporting accuracy, transparency, and governance.Talent Leadership & Organizational Development• Recruit, coach, develop, and retain high-performing finance talent.• Lead performance management and succession planning processes.• Partner with Human Resources to strengthen organizational capability and build leadership pipelines.Continuous Improvement• Drive standardization, governance, process improvements, enhanced analytics, and best-practice sharing across the organization.• Support continuous improvement initiatives, cost-out validation, and operational excellence programs.Qualifications:Basic Qualifications• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and/or accounting.• Authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without current or future employer sponsorship.Preferred Qualifications• MBA, master’s degree, or other advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management practices, including U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance.• Demonstrated ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial and operational analyses.• Strong business acumen and strategic decision-making capabilities.• Experience with ERP and financial systems; SAP experience. • Knowledge of manufacturing operations, sourcing, and supply chain processes.• Prior experience leading finance teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment.• Proven track record partnering with senior leadership to improve business performance and drive growth.All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process. All candidates will be evaluated based on job-related competencies, and all candidates’ privacy rights and data security will be protected in accordance with applicable laws. We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
