Accounting Assistant

Job Title: Accounting Assistant Location: Fremont, CA (Hybrid) *** During the initial training period, daily on-site attendance is required. Pay Rate: $28–$30/hour A well-established Japanese-affiliated company is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support its accounting department. This position is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in gaining hands-on accounting experience in a professional office environment. Position Summary The Accounting Assistant will provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. This role will assist with maintaining accounting records, processing invoices, entering financial data, supporting customer payment posting, and helping with month-end closing activities. The ideal candidate is dependable, accurate, and comfortable working with numbers, documents, and confidential information. Key Responsibilities Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department Prepare, maintain, file, copy, and scan accounting documents and records Enter financial transaction data into the company database Verify invoice information in the system against original invoices for payment Confirm shipping information for customer orders and assist with issuing invoices Assist with posting customer payments, including cash, checks, and credit card transactions Research, track, and help resolve accounting or documentation discrepancies Prepare reports and summaries for management as needed Assist with month-end closing activities Follow established accounting procedures, standards, and applicable laws Maintain and update job knowledge as needed Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned Support cross-training and provide backup support for other accounting team members as needed Handle confidential information professionally and appropriately Qualifications Associate’s degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or a related field preferred Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered Minimum 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred Strong attention to detail and accuracy Basic math skills and ability to work with numbers accurately Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to work cooperatively with internal team members, supervisors, vendors, and other business partners Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Proficiency with computers and common business applications, including spreadsheets and word processing software Ability to use general office equipment such as copier, scanner, calculator, and telephone Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Detail-oriented and accurate Responsible and reliable Comfortable working with accounting documents and financial data Able to follow established procedures Organized and able to prioritize tasks Professional when handling confidential information Willing to learn and support a team environment Flexible and able to assist with various accounting and administrative tasks Physical Requirements Must be able to read and review data on paper and on a computer screen Must be able to communicate by phone and in writingMust be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds Must be able to manage work pressure and multiple priorities as needed How to Apply Interested candidates are encouraged to apply with their resume.
