Medical Lab Technician

Microbiologist - Variable Shifts, Bethel, AK Variable - 8 hour shifts, available in days, evenings, or nights. Under the direction of the laboratory manager, the Microbiologist is responsible for performing laboratory tests, implementing quality control procedures, and communicating effectively with physicians, nurses, and patients. This position demands a keen attention to detail and the ability to work independently while also guiding Medical Laboratory Assistants. Responsibilities:

Perform laboratory tests in microbiology and ensure adherence to quality control protocols. Communicate with healthcare professionals and patients regarding test results and procedures. Provide direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants as needed. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory generalist instruments.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related field is required. Must be board eligible by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) or the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), achieving certification within one year of employment. One to three years of related experience in microbiology is preferred. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by ASCP or a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by NCA is required within one year of employment. Completion of immunization requirements for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, T-Dap, and Polio is mandatory.
