Senior Principal Software Engineer (ONSITE)

Sr Principal Software Engineer – Collins Aerospace (RTX) Location: Richardson, TX; Fort Wayne, IN; Cedar Rapids, IA; St.Petersburg, FL; Largo, FL. Role is onsite. This position supports critical aerospace and defense missions, applying deep domain expertise in secure communications, mission systems, cybersecurity, autonomous systems, embedded software, and software modernization. Responsibilities Lead software engineering activities across the full lifecycle: design, development, integration, testing, deployment, modernization, and sustainment. Develop, implement, and refine software solutions, technical approaches, processes, and standards for diverse technologies and product lines. Partner with multidisciplinary teams, customers, and stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges and deliver mission‑critical capabilities. Influence technical direction, engineering strategies, and program outcomes through domain expertise. Communicate technical concepts, recommendations, and program status to engineering teams, customers, and executive leadership. Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of software development experience (or 7 years with an advanced degree in STEM). Proficiency in C/C++, Java, or similar programming languages. Experience with embedded software, real‑time operating systems (RTOS), Linux, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure software development practices, or software assurance methodologies. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required. Preference for an active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
