Job Overview A law firm seeks a Patent Agent in Boston, Massachusetts, to perform patent-related activities within the life sciences field. The role involves preparing, drafting, and filing patent applications, evaluating patentability, and advising on inventorship issues. Duties Prepare, draft, and file patent applications with the USPTO. Draft and file responses to USPTO Actions. Evaluate the patentability of inventions and construe patent claims. Advise inventors, researchers, and attorneys on patentability and inventorship issues. Analyze technical documents and prepare legal analyses. Coordinate filing and prosecution of foreign patent applications. Prepare information disclosure statements and manage docketed deadlines. Conduct telephonic interviews with patent examiners. Requirements Ph.D. in Neurobiology, Neuroscience, or related life science field. Two years of patent-related activities in life sciences. Experience in preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications. Ability to identify potential patent infringements. Experience supporting patent agents/attorneys in life sciences. Experience with U.S. and foreign patent applications in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Education Ph.D. in Neurobiology, Neuroscience, or related field. Certifications USPTO registration exam (if not already registered). Skills Strong analytical and technical research skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
