Biomedical Technician I - Clinical Engineering - Long Island

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Biomedical Technician I - Clinical Engineering - Long Island. The successful candidate, under close supervision, installs, inspects, calibrates, and performs preventive maintenance on general biomedical equipment—including electrical, electronic, and pneumatic patient care devices—throughout the Medical Center. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing instruments such as infusion pumps, syringes, enteral feeding pumps, cardiovascular devices, telemetry, multiparameter monitors, central station monitoring, hypothermia units, and laboratory equipment. Work will be performed in areas such as Central Services, Labs, Physical/Occupational Therapy, and Dialysis. Job Responsibilities Carry out minor repairs on patient medical equipment, accessories, and cables; troubleshoot problems and replace components or circuit boards as required; record all work on appropriate forms. Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and functional testing on general patient care equipment per manufacturer and departmental schedules. Install new medical equipment in coordination with user departments and Facilities Management; assist in reinstallation within other areas or carts. Determine warranty or service contract coverage for repairs; notify the Operations Manager with equipment details and problem descriptions. Maintain equipment logs, perform electrical safety checks, and ensure all equipment is properly tagged and labeled. Attend all required work-related training and stay current on new developments in medical instrumentation. Execute additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering/Technology. Minimum of 1 year of medical equipment repair experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
