Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Psychiatric Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/24/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Travel Travel Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) Location: Baltimore, MD Shift: Nights, 3x12s (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: September 24, 2026 Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours/Week Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment working on an Adult Co-Occurring Unit. The ideal candidate will have experience caring for patients with mental health and substance use disorders in an inpatient psychiatric setting and be comfortable working in a high-acuity environment. Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care Conduct psychiatric assessments, intake screenings, evaluations, and triage Administer and monitor psychotropic medications and treatment regimens Monitor patients for physiological and psychosocial changes Perform crisis intervention and stabilization as needed Support recovery-focused care and psychiatric rehabilitation Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and self-care strategies Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients Assist with case management and discharge planning Demonstrate strong knowledge of suicide prevention and behavioral health resources Float to other behavioral health units and age populations as needed Serve as Charge RN when required Requirements Active RN license (permanent license required) Minimum of 2 years of Behavioral Health/Psychiatric RN experience First-time travelers accepted BLS Certification required Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills Ability to work with patients experiencing acute mental health and substance use disorders Experience with psychiatric crisis management preferred Sunrise (Allscripts) EMR experience preferred Assignment Details Night Shift: 3x12s (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Every other weekend required No on-call requirement Floating required based on unit needs Travelers may float to Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations Charge responsibilities may be required without additional differential Free parking available Navy blue scrubs Additional Information RTO must be submitted with initial application (maximum 7 days per contract) Fingerprinting required prior to start Candidates must be comfortable working in a high-acuity psychiatric setting Strict compliance and onboarding requirements apply Join a dedicated behavioral health team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients navigating mental health and substance use recovery.
