IT Systems AdministratorWe're seeking an IT Systems Administrator with technical and professional skills to be a part of our existing System Administration team. As a team member, you will make an impact on the future of legislative engagement in the Colorado community by providing technical support to ensure continuous operation of all IT related assets and services for our diverse professional customer base. Within this unique organization you will experience challenging work while directly contributing to the betterment of Colorado.The Colorado General Assembly is a small but high-profile state government department with approximately 500 users including 100 legislators. LIS provides computing, network and storage technology infrastructure and systems support to all legislative staff, legislators and others in the Capitol building.This is a full-time, salaried state employment, onsite position with limited work from home options. You must be authorized to work in the US. Persons seeking contract positions or visa sponsorship need not apply.Work Location and Remote WorkThis position is a hybrid in-person and work-from-home (WFH) position. During the four-month legislative session (January to May), this position will be working in person about a quarter of the time to support the office and the needs of the legislature. During the eight-month legislative interim (May through December), and dependent upon coordination with other in-person staff, this position may work remotely unless required to come in-person for team meetings, project related work or other times when on-site presence is required.Salary And BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $70k to $90k per year, with salary level within this range commensurate with education and experience. You shall demonstrate the following traits:Demonstrate exceptional technical competency and be extremely customer service oriented;Possess a wide-range of problem-solving skills,Team player - able to work with immediate and extended team members and users at all levels;Professional phone and desk-side etiquette;Excellent verbal and written communication skills;Effective time management and ability to prioritize a high-volume workload;Ability to meet deadlines while multitasking across multiple projects;Strong technical aptitude, with initiative toward learning new skills and assignments;Willingness to learn, support and be an expert in existing technologiesProactive, independent and collaborative working style with minimal supervision;Take ownership of and be accountable for tasks, issues, projects and team;Able to de-escalate critical situations within the internal team or with external customers; andFollow through on self and team commitments.Your tasks and responsibilities in this position:Provide excellent technical support with a focus on customer service;Monitor and respond: analyze, log and resolve software/hardware matters of significance pertaining to networking, servers, and related infrastructure, services and applications to meet business needs;Manage user accounts, rights, group policy, permissions, access rights, and other aspects of IAM with best-practices regarding privacy, and security.Proactively troubleshoot issues to isolate and diagnose system problems; document system events to ensure continuous functioning.Proactively improve upon existing process and training;Collaborate across various technical and business teams;Work on various projects and backup other team members as assigned.You possess the following technical skills/knowledge to be successful in this position:You have worked for 5 years in the IT System Administration Field, or have relevant experience. You must have demonstrable experience to varying degrees in the following areas:Microsoft AD-DS, Group Policy, DNS, DHCPManage network file, print, and application resourcesMaintenance of Microsoft Windows Servers and user accountsIdentity and Access ManagementBackup and recovery job creation, retention, recovery testing, resiliencyApplication upgrades, conversions, and roll-outsManage security practices and procedures for network environmentLAN, VLAN's, SAN, IPAM, network segmentationCollaboration tools and technologies5 or more years of operations experience in a production IT environmentStrong documentation skillsExperience working with and contributing to strong IT teamsSecurity-first mindsetPreferable if you have experience in the following areas, although it is not a requirement for qualification:Cloud computing and storage solutions such as AWSCloud-based email and collaboration toolsLinux administrationContainerization toolsIBM/HCL Domino server administrationVMWareCOMPTIA A+/Server/Network+/Security+Experience in government, legislative, or regulated environmentsEndpoint managementManageEngine SuiteExperience monitoring UPS systems (APC, Eaton, or equivalent)Experience managing IP Phone users, extensions, call queues, auto attendants, and main line routingIn order to be considered for the position, your application must be received by November 1, 2026 and include:Resume; andCover letter.A list of three professional references will be requested at a later stage.Legislative Council Staff is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
