The QPS Specialist is a key player in ensuring excellent quality and patient safety within the hospital. As an expert for assigned departments/units, the QPS Specialist assists in the development, implementation, and improvement of programs to meet quality and safety standards, especially when it comes to patient care. This involves data analysis, working with QPS leadership, and other teams to manage projects, and being the subject matter expert for all things quality, patient safety, and incident management, while aligning with the hospital's overall goal

Core Responsibilities

• Partner with department and unit leaders to drive quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Serve as the quality and patient safety subject matter expert and internal consultant for assigned areas.
• Collaborate with leadership to establish, monitor, and achieve quality and patient safety goals and performance metrics.
• Develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans and process improvement initiatives.
• Support adverse event management through event review, escalation, patient safety debriefs, and Root Cause Analyses.
• Analyze and interpret quality and patient safety data; prepare reports, benchmarks, and recommendations for leadership and committees.
• Lead and support quality improvement projects using methodologies such as PDSA, Lean, FMEA, and change management principles.
• Facilitate disease-specific programs (e.g., Stroke, Sepsis) and use data-driven strategies to improve patient outcomes.
• Assist with staff and leadership education on quality improvement and patient safety practices.
• Monitor process effectiveness, compliance with best practices, and alignment with organizational goals; recommend improvements as needed.
• Participate in regulatory surveys and support compliance activities, including survey preparation, documentation review, and corrective action follow-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• Bachelor's Degre e - Required
• Master’s Degree in a related fiel d - Preferred
• Clinical Licensur e - Required

Work Experi ence:

Minimum 5 years of relevant work experien ce - Required

• 3-5 years Project Management experien ce - Preferred
• CPHQ/CPPS- Preferred/Required within 6 months
• Trained or certified in methodologies such as Six Sigma, PDCA, Lean, or Project Manageme nt - Preferred
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other web-based applicatio ns - Required
• Strong analytical/problem-solving, critical thinking, and idea-generating abiliti es - Required
• Strong team-building ability: effectively able to motivate, engage, and encourage team participati on – Required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skil ls - Required
