A well-established law firm in Midland, Texas, is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join its litigation team. The firm is open to candidates at the Associate, Senior Associate, or Of Counsel level with 3-10 years of litigation experience, preferably gained in a private law firm environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial litigation, insurance defense, employment litigation, or other relevant litigation practice areas. Experience handling complex oil and gas disputes is also valuable. Candidates should be capable of independently managing cases, developing effective litigation strategies, drafting persuasive legal documents, and representing clients throughout the litigation process. The position is based in Midland, Texas, with remote opportunities for qualified attorneys located in Houston or the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Remote attorneys must be comfortable collaborating closely with the firm's team and clients and traveling to Midland as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Independently manage litigation matters from initial pleadings through discovery, motions, settlement, and trial, as applicable.

Handle all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document review, and depositions.

Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents.

Develop litigation strategies and provide practical legal advice to clients.

Prepare for and participate in hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.

Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, colleagues, and the courts.

Monitor case deadlines, maintain accurate case files, and manage multiple matters efficiently.

Collaborate with attorneys and staff while maintaining the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Travel to Midland, Texas, as needed.

Required Qualifications

3-10 years of litigation experience, preferably in a private law firm.

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

Commercial litigation

Insurance defense litigation

Employment litigation

Oil and gas litigation or other complex civil litigation

Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation matters.

Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.

Hands-on experience with discovery, depositions, and motion practice.

Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently while maintaining strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

Willingness to travel to Midland when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior trial experience or substantial trial preparation experience.

Experience handling complex commercial disputes or oil and gas litigation.

Ability to manage a litigation caseload with minimal supervision.

Experience working effectively in a remote or hybrid environment.

Location and Work Arrangement

The firm's office is located in Midland, Texas. Remote candidates based in Houston or Dallas-Fort Worth will also be considered. Candidates must be comfortable working independently, staying connected with the legal team and clients, and traveling to Midland as required.
