Residency Program Director

Residency Program Clinical DirectorPetaluma Health Center is recruiting for a Residency Program Clinical Director to join our award winning team!The Residency Program Director will lead the NP/PA Residency Program, leading and supervising other faculty in precepting and teaching Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Residents and leading the team responsible for resident selection and evaluation, curricular evaluation and development, and integration of the program into Petaluma Health Center's mission and goals. The Program Director ideally would also serve as Team Director of the residency team, conditional on appropriate experience to assume that position. As a clinician, they will provide quality primary medical care in a collaborative, compassionate, and caring environment. They will work as an integral part of the medical staff by participating in all strategic initiatives of Petaluma Health Center. Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to after-hours call, weekend clinics, and assignment to outside locations within PHC federal scope.Areas of Responsibility: Residency:Develop, implement, coordinate, integrate, and evaluate the work of the residency program to assure attainment of program goalsProvide direct clinical teaching in both didactic and clinical settingsLead team designing program guidelines, didactics, and residents' schedulesAssist residents in achieving learning objectives in all desired areas of care and with a deep understanding of PHC's mission and cultureSupervise precepting, including providing training, evaluation, and feedback for preceptorsAssist in establishing and coordinating clinical rotations, both within PHC and with outside agenciesCoordinate regular evaluation of resident progress and performance, including for post-residency employmentCollaborate with operations and clinic administrators to ensure residents meet goals for number of patient visits completed during the twelve month programCollaborate with operations and team manager to integrate residents into existing services and ensure that residents are part of the PHC clinic cultureMaintain program accreditation including any necessary reports or site visitsCreate annual budget and work with health center staff to integrate budget within primary careSupport, apply for, and manage outside funding opportunities, including federal and state grants, and ensure timely completion of grant-related reporting, documentation, deliverables, and compliance requirements.Manage relationship with collaborating academic institutionsSupport grant-funded residency program operations, including implementation of grant-related program objectives, tracking of required deliverables, coordination of resident oversight during the grant period, and assistance with transition, closeout, or continuation planning if grant funding ends, changes, or is not renewed.Clinical:Manage a panel of assigned primary care patients as designated for clinical FTETake appropriate history and physical examination of patients for a scope of patients is defined by level of certificationOrder pertinent diagnostics and implement appropriate therapy according to scope of practice guidelinesObtain supervising physician's consultation when problems presented are outside scope of practice or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the patient's care according to the PA/NP Standardized ProceduresCommunicate effectively with the patients while involved with their health care, including providing appropriate patient education while answering questions and in history takingDemonstrate competent knowledge in delivering health care to patients through the peer review processes including chart review, by interactions with physician preceptors and by working collaboratively with support staff and all staff of PHCBecome an integral part of the clinical staff through participation in Medical Staff meetings, PA/NP meetings, and other committees of PHCResponsible for maintaining credentials by keeping all required licenses current, including but not limited to California Medical License, DEA licenses, CME hours, CPR Certifications and any other required licenses. It is the responsibility of the nurse practitioner to give Human Resources current credentials before old credentials expireWillingly perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned Support and contribute positively to clinic efforts to maintain and improve patient satisfaction in all aspects of health deliveryWork at maximum potential to meet productivity requirements in order to improve patient access and fiscal viability while maintaining quality medical careMeet all time commitments by arriving on time to the clinic and working entire shift or more as needed to manage assigned patient panelResponsible for maintaining credentials by keeping all required licenses current, including but not limited to California Medical License, DEA licenses, CME hours, CPR Certifications and any other required licenses. It is the responsibility of the nurse practitioner/physician assistant to give Human Resources current credentials before old credentials expireWillingly perform other duties within the scope of practice as assignedManager Responsibilities:Assist the CMO and Leadership team in strategic planning of the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant ResidencyUtilize operational and clinical audit results to lead team in initiatives of clinical systems improvements, health information technology innovations, and new methods of care deliveryResponsible to meet with residency faculty in their performance reviews and the quarterly and yearly incentive reviewsAttend clinical director meetings as needed, as well as other management or quality meetings as assigned by Medical DirectorQualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Education/Experience:Graduation from a nationally accredited Nurse Practitioner ProgramMinimum of five years' experience providing primary care in a family practice setting in good standingMinimum of one year previous management experience highly desirablePrevious teaching experience and/or strong interest in teachingFaculty development fellowship or similar training highly desirableExperience working in an FQHC or in community medicine highly desirableDesired Skills:Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical careKnowledge of related accreditation and certification requirementsKnowledge of quality, safety, and/or infection control standardsKnowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatmentFamiliarity with educational evaluation softwareLicenses and Certifications:Current California license as an FNPNurse Practitioners must also have current CA RN License in good standingFederal DEA Registration within 30 days of employmentMust maintain CME as required for certification renewalsCurrent Basic Life Support CertificationCandidate must be able to successfully meet PHC's credentialing and privileging requirementsLanguage Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and requests from patients, co-workers, and others as necessary.
