National Links Trust's Jack Vardaman Workforce Development Program - Golf Operations Intern Job Category: Administration Requisition Number: WORKF031981 Posted: May 15, 2026 | Term: Part-Time | Rate: $17.95 per hour Location: Langston Golf Course, 2600 Benning Rd NE, Washington, DC 20002, USA Our program is perfect for youth and young adults who show interest in developing a career in Business (General Business Management, Marketing or Accounting), Golf Course Management & Tournament Operations, Media & Communications, Retail and/or Merchandising, Food & Beverage/Hospitality and Golf Course Maintenance/Agronomy. Applicants ages 16 to 24 who want work experience and skills for any career field may apply. Internship Positions Golf Services Intern National Links Trust is seeking applicants for a golf services internship at the three DC courses. This position focuses on developing communication and interpersonal skills, and will professionally handle and maintain practice areas, cart barn, and on‑course amenities while providing services to players and guests. Reports to the Assistant Professional and is paid. Development of key customer service skills and golf cart fleet management. Exposure to golf cart management – inventory, weekly, monthly checklists. Opportunities for additional training programs. Responsibilities Set the driving range practice tees, putting green, and short game area with necessary items. Perform daily maintenance for the practice area and driving range tees (clean broken tees, remove trash, keep areas clean and organized). Clean, stock and remove trash from cart barn, ball washroom, driving range, and golf carts daily. Stage golf carts in cart staging area. Maintain golf services equipment including fleet of golf carts, range picker, driving range equipment, and leaf blowers; stock, clean, care batteries, and store equipment. Pick up the driving range daily and clean range balls; maintain inventory and quality of usable stock. Assist with tournament operations as directed. Assist with set‑up for junior camps, clinics, and guest groups as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Work Environment & Physical Demands Ability to anticipate and multi‑task at a high level. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Clean and properly groomed appearance resembling a golf professional. Availability to work weekends and holidays. Effective communication with players, guests, co‑workers, and supervisors. Work primarily outdoors; requires physical strength, endurance, and ability to work in varying temperatures and inclement weather. Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking, standing, and sitting. Ability to walk rolling terrain. Capability to lift and transport up to 25 lbs. regularly. Exposure to carbon monoxide fumes, insects, noise, dust, mud, pollen, pesticide and cleaning chemicals. Must be able to drive golf carts and use maintenance equipment. Manual dexterity required for vehicles and equipment. Experience & Education Currently attending high school (ages 15‑18) or high‑school diploma/equivalent (ages 18‑24). No experience required; on‑the‑job training provided. Golf Shop Operations Intern Position focuses on developing critical thinking, research and analysis, and technical proficiency. Interns assist with administrative and marketing tasks such as filing, researching, course photography, and creating company documents and flyers. Also responsible for retail services: reserving tee times, checking in customers, and selling merchandise. Reports to the Golf Shop Assistant Manager and is paid. Development of customer service, retail management, and basic business skills. Exposure to golf shop inventory, sales, and stocking. Exposure to small business operations – data entry, bookkeeping, research. Opportunities for additional training programs. Responsibilities Administer point‑of‑sale transactions and maintain day‑to‑day golf reservation systems. Reserving tee times and lessons, checking in customers, selling merchandise and receiving payments. Assist with golf range services: daily setup and breakdown, monitor cleanliness and availability of clean range balls. Maintain an accurate customer and donor database. Assist with research, reconciliation of program and tournament financial and result summaries, marketing tasks, and tournament operations as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. Assist tournaments and upkeep of driving range/practice facilities. Reports to the Assistant Golf Professional and is paid. Development of customer service, golf instruction, and tournament management skills. Exposure to instruction tools & software. Exposure to tournament management – data entry, scoring, coordination. Opportunities for additional training programs. Responsibilities Assist with implementation of youth instructional programs and clinics. Assist pre‑tournament planning: creating player lists, cart placards, etc. Assist on‑site tournament responsibilities: registration, course setup, starting, scoring, awards presentation. Communicate with parents, juniors, and intern staff. Assist with research, reconciliation of program and tournament financials and results. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Work Environment & Physical Demands Ability to anticipate and multi‑task at a high level. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Clean and properly groomed appearance resembling a golf professional. Availability to work weekends and holidays. Effective communication with players, guests, co‑workers, and supervisors. Assist with food & beverage service, inventory, catering for tournaments, programs, events. Reports to Golf Shop Assistant Manager and is paid. Development of customer service and food & beverage management skills. Exposure to inventory, sales, service, and food preparation. Opportunities for additional training programs. Responsibilities Assist with food & beverage point-of-sale transactions. Assist with weekly inventory: counting, receiving, rotating (FIFO), stocking. Assist day‑to‑day food & beverage service, including bartending and on‑course service. Assist food & beverage services for tournament and program operations. Assist marketing: food photography, presentation as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Work Environment & Physical Demands Ability to anticipate and multi‑task at a high level. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Clean and properly groomed appearance resembling a golf professional. Availability to work weekends and holidays. Effective communication with players, guests, co‑workers, and supervisors.
