Position Summary Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities including driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, and customer service operations in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Supervise most processes directly—people, systems, customer needs, equipment, and workforce scheduling. Responsible for performance management of direct reports, making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level. Involved in the hiring process and customer meetings as necessary. Opportunity Details Schedule Monday & Tuesday: 12:00PM – 9:00PM (Hours vary depending on business needs) Wednesday through Friday: 10:00AM – 6:00PM (Hours vary depending on business needs) Experience Transportation management background, strong communication skills, goal‑oriented, detail‑oriented, and demonstrated leadership skills. Major Responsibilities People Establish and sustain that all supervisors and associates are trained, competent, and understand how their work relates to the customer’s business objectives. Ensure performance standards are communicated, specific, and measurable. Interview hourly associates and provide hiring recommendations. Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards and provide coaching and counseling. Motivate and engage associates through team accomplishments and recognition. Operations Supervise logistics operations—including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, and documentation control. Conduct team meetings. Evaluate and recommend changes in work methods to increase dispatch productivity; assist in new associate training. Provide relief coverage when associates use time‑off or are absent. Maintain thorough knowledge of the site’s operating systems for compliance and issue resolution. Complete all necessary records and reports accurately and promptly. Finance Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as tracking MPG, returns, and damages. Understand the relationship between decisions and profitability. Manage associates’ hours and activities to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets. Safety Ensure day‑to‑day management and associate activities align with the location safety strategy. Provide communication, training, feedback, and direction for safe performance. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company policies, and procedures. Conduct safety observations. Growth / Customer Experience Understand and pursue location‑specific customer goals and objectives. Communicate commitment to helping customers meet their objectives. Identify areas for continuous improvement. Fleet / Assets Plan work assignments to optimize fleet equipment usage. Ensure associates understand safe and efficient equipment operation. Coordinate with vendors for equipment maintenance. Coordinate with Penske Truck Leasing for preventative maintenance scheduling. Complete other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor. Job Qualifications Demonstrated leadership qualities with strong interpersonal skills; ability to connect, build rapport, and maintain relationships with associates, leadership, and customers. Efficient and independent worker with strong time‑management and organizational skills. Strong written and oral communication skills, with active listening ability. Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and independent decision‑making ability. Experience in process improvement and change leadership. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ownership and responsibility as a leader with a sense of urgency. High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential. Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, attend the specific location, complete the employment application, and undergo background investigation and drug screening. Physical Requirements Must meet the physical and mental demands described here, including reading, verbal and written communication, analysis of information, and understanding instructions. Must stand, walk, and sit frequently; use hands to touch, handle, and feel; reach with arms; and occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs (12 kg).
