Overview

The hire client is a well-established boutique venture fund based in San Francisco. They are seeking an Associate or Senior Associate, Investor Relations to join its team in San Francisco or New York (remotely). This individual will play an important role in building and managing the firm's investor relations function as Nimble continues to grow.

The role will combine direct investor engagement, fundraising, investor communications and relationship management with the execution required to support a sophisticated and growing investor base. The successful candidate will work closely with the firm's senior leadership and investment team and will have meaningful exposure to both existing and prospective investors.

We are looking for someone who can both execute at a high level and also think strategically about how we build our investor relations platform over time. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in front of investors, able to develop a deep understanding of Nimble's investment strategy and portfolio, and capable of taking increasing ownership of investor relationships and the broader fundraising process.

Primary Responsibilities

Investor Relations & Fundraising

• Develop and independently manage relationships with existing and prospective investors, serving as a key point of contact for the firm.
• Lead investor calls and meetings independently, as appropriate, as well as alongside senior leadership and members of the investment team.
• Drive day-to-day fundraising activity, including investor targeting, outreach, meeting preparation, follow-up and pipeline management.
• Develop a deep understanding of the firm's investment strategy, portfolio companies and performance and communicate these effectively and confidently to investors.
• Proactively manage investor follow-up and ensure prospective and existing investor relationships are thoughtfully and consistently cultivated.
• Prepare senior leadership and investment professionals for key investor meetings, including presentations, briefing materials, investor backgrounds and key discussion points.
• Help develop and execute the firm's broader investor relations and fundraising strategy, including identifying opportunities to expand and deepen the investor base.

Fund Closings & Investor Onboarding

• Manage the investor closing process from initial commitment through final close, coordinating across investors, internal teams, fund administrators and outside counsel.
• Review subscription documents for completeness and accuracy, identify outstanding or inconsistent information, and work directly with investors and their advisors to resolve open items.
• Manage investor onboarding, including subscription documentation, KYC/AML requirements and other closing deliverables.
• Maintain closing trackers and ensure investor commitments, documentation, side letters and other relevant information are accurately captured and communicated to the appropriate internal and external teams.
• Coordinate with legal, finance and fund administrators to ensure closings are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Help develop and improve processes around subscriptions, closings and investor onboarding as the firm continues to scale.

IR Strategy & Infrastructure

• Help strategically build and continuously improve the firm's investor relations function as the firm and its investor base grow.
• Develop scalable processes for fundraising, investor communications, diligence, onboarding and ongoing relationship management.
• Maintain and enhance the firm's CRM, investor pipeline and institutional knowledge regarding investor relationships.
• Identify opportunities to improve the investor experience and make the firm's fundraising and IR processes more effective.
• Partner closely with the investment, finance and legal teams to ensure investor communications are accurate, consistent and responsive.

Investor Communications & Execution

• Lead the preparation and coordination of investor materials, including fundraising presentations, quarterly and annual communications, portfolio updates and other investor-facing materials.
• Own investor due diligence processes, virtual data rooms and information requests.
• Coordinate and prepare responses to RFPs and DDQs.
• Coordinate investor reporting and other recurring communications.
• Work across internal teams and external service providers to respond to investor requests and ensure timely, high-quality execution.
• Support and help lead investor events, annual meetings and other opportunities for engagement with the firm's investor base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Approximately 4–7 years of relevant experience in investor relations, fundraising, institutional sales, venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, asset management or a related financial services environment.
• Demonstrated experience independently interacting with institutional investors, family offices, endowments, foundations or other sophisticated investors.
• Experience with private fund subscription and closing processes strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of private markets, venture capital, private equity or alternative investments preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence, judgment and presence to independently represent the firm with investors.
• Strong relationship-building skills and genuine interest in developing long-term investor relationships.
• Strategic thinker who is also willing to be hands-on and take ownership of execution.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple investor relationships and fund closing processes simultaneously.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to understand and communicate investment performance, portfolio developments and financial information.
• Collaborative and comfortable working closely with senior leadership, investment professionals, finance, legal, fund administrators and outside counsel.
