Product Manager
Caris Life Sciences
Product Manager - Clinical Software Products
Caris Life Sciences is one of the largest precision-oncology platforms in the world, serving hundreds of thousands of molecular cases a year and growing at double-digit rates. Behind every case is a matched molecular, imaging, and clinical-outcomes data estate few organizations anywhere can rival, and the clinical software that drives the lab's instruments and processes, captures results, and delivers each patient's report. Every report has to be right, complete, and on time; a patient and an ordering physician are waiting on each one.
The Product Manager - Clinical Software Products owns features and capability areas within one of those clinical products, working with a Senior Product Manager or Director of Product who owns the product end to end. Assignments span order intake and case-lifecycle workflows, blood and genetics testing platforms, and clinical-intelligence products; every product is live, in daily use by people making clinical decisions, and generating revenue. The specific assignment is discussed during the interview process.
The ownership is concrete: this role runs discovery for its capability areas with clinicians, laboratory operations, and commercial partners; writes the requirements engineering builds from; sequences the backlog for those areas; and brings the evidence behind release-readiness decisions. Adoption and utilization of what ships belong to this role, and the backlog answers to that evidence.
The role reports to a Director of Product within Clinical Software Products and joins a product organization growing by design: portfolio-owning Directors of Product, Senior Product Managers, and an engineering organization with the capacity to ship. This is a growth seat: the product managers in it grow toward end-to-end product ownership, and help set how product management is done here, not only what gets built.
Caris is investing in AI on two fronts that matter to this role: product capabilities that put the data estate to work for clinicians, and an AI-native working environment where advanced assistants and agentic workflows are standard tooling, from discovery synthesis to requirements drafting. Automation is product work: where the workflows behind a product still run on manual steps, removing them is progress.
Much of the portfolio supports regulated clinical workflows subject to SOX financial controls and FDA regulatory requirements. That discipline is part of the product craft here: what ships reaches cancer patients, so changes are made deliberately and backed by evidence. Prior regulated-industry experience helps; it is not required.
Location: Irving, Texas (Dallas–Fort Worth), on-site/hybrid, minimum three days per week on campus; co-located with Caris's laboratory and clinical operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Own discovery, definition, and delivery for assigned features and capability areas within a clinical software product, guided by the product's strategy and roadmap.
- Run discovery with the ordering physicians, pathologists, geneticists, laboratory operations, and commercial teams who depend on the product; validate problems before proposing solutions.
- Write product requirements engineering teams can act on: epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria clear enough to build from and complete enough for a regulated environment.
- Sequence and groom the backlog for assigned areas, keeping it value-ordered and evidence-backed.
- Scope releases, assemble the launch-readiness evidence, and bring it to the go/no-go decision alongside senior product, engineering, quality, and regulatory partners.
- Track adoption and utilization after launch; propose iteration or retirement on the evidence.
- Lead working sessions with clinical, operational, commercial, and technical stakeholders for assigned areas, making the trade-offs visible.
- Use generative AI as daily leverage in discovery synthesis, analysis, requirements drafting, and product documentation.
- Surface recurring manual steps in the workflows a product serves, and bring automation candidates to the roadmap conversation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years in product management, or equivalent product or program experience, including work on technical or platform-scoped products.
- Experience writing structured product requirements (epics, user stories, acceptance criteria) that engineering teams built and shipped.
- Experience defining or tracking adoption, utilization, or outcome measures and using them to inform product decisions.
- A record of working across technical and non-technical stakeholders to reach clear, documented decisions.
- Fluency with generative AI tools in product discovery, analysis, requirements, or documentation work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as an MBA.
- Experience in healthcare diagnostics, molecular pathology, clinical laboratory, or life sciences software.
- Experience in environments governed by FDA, SOX, CLIA, or HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to translate regulatory or compliance constraints into actionable product requirements.
- Familiarity with agile delivery frameworks and associated product-management tooling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with stakeholders at varying levels of technical and clinical fluency.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
Training
- All job-specific, safety, and compliance training is assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee.
Other
- This position may require periodic travel and occasional evening, weekend, or holiday work to support business needs, release events, and stakeholder meetings.
Conditions of Employment: Individual must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening, credit check (applicable for certain positions) and reference verification.
This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
